Edukan A&P2 summer session 3!!!

Published

I had been thinking about starting this thread all week and forgot about it. I guess the time has finally come! Class starts on Monday. I've been doing some of the ADAM labs to get ahead, but haven't done any of the "Beyond Adam" questions in the lab. I'm planning to start reading this weekend as well. Anybody remember what chapter A&P 1 left off with?

Come on everybody, let's make the next 6 weeks great, with lots of A's!!!

Well, unit 1 is out of the way now. I took the test this afternoon - got a B. As always, I didn't think I missed that many, but what can I do about it!? So I'm planning to take the unit 2 test on the 4th (yeah, no parties for me that day - too much homework!) Keep up the good work everybody - 1 week is almost over, 5 more to go!

Hi Lana,

I was wondering, what made you go LPN to Rn Route.. Is it easier at your school to get in? I am wondering if I should do that, is why I ask.. Im getting so tired of school right now (maybe I need a break) but Im also to the point of being happy with an ADN.. how is your school there.. I heard its sometimes easier to go lvn-rn, but Im not sure if u end up in school longer, etc..

Talk to you later,

Amy

Amy, for me it was just a matter of which program could I get into first. I was able to get straight in to my LPN program because they had just emptied out the waiting list. They don't require all the science prereqs that RN programs do, so I didn't have to wait until those are completed. My LPN program will take a year and the LPN-RN program will take a year (so 2 years total), or I can -go LPN-BSN at the University of Oklahoma in a year (but have to work a year as LPN before starting that.) I'm finishing my sciences so I can go straight in to the RN program after finishing LPN. I completely understand being ready to stop going to school - I'm sick of it! Every program is different, but for me this was really the best way to go. I've been working to bring up my GPA because when I started college 10 years ago I didn't do so great - that would have made it hard for me to get directly in to a RN program. Hope that helps!

Hi,

I am planning to take AP 1 with Reichert, Session 1 in the Fall 2006. I know you girls had Simmons for your AP1 but was wondering if you have heard of Reichert's testing style and generally the way she handles the class, if its's more work under her or not compared to Simmons or Terry Lee's.

I will be working full-time 9-6 Mon-Fri, and so the only times I can really work on this class is at night. Weekends for me would be quite tough for me to get any class work done as I have a 3-yr daughter with me Saturdays and Sundays.

Thanks for your input!

I don't know anything about her. Have you looked at the syllabus for her class? It's here: http://edukan.org/index.real?action=courses&Cat=C&NID=&SID=&CID=41479-2364597&Syl=Yes

Looks like she's got additional work than what Simmons does and her tests are longer, but that can be good thing. It can take a few hours sometimes to do the virtual labs (depending on if she has you do the beyond ADAM questions - I did all of them and just found out we didn't have to.) Then you need to figure in probably a couple hours for reading and doing homework - you only have 1 chapter a week in the 16 week course, which helps. Then it looks like she's got some additional stuff that I really couldn't tell you much about. I would say that if you organize yourself well and schedule your times to work on it at night you should be fine. You would definately want to take your tests when your daughter isn't there because there is a timelimit and you don't want any distractions.

Hey girls,

Wow!! Did anyone else think the unit 2 exam was a lot harder compared to the unit 1 exam!? :uhoh3: I thought it would be just like the unit 1 exam, but it was so much more detailed and specific. I sure hope the test don't keep getting twice as hard each time!! Maybe it was just the nature of the material this time. I still somehow managed to get an A (92) this time, but I was sure I answered a ton of them wrong!! I had no time left at the end and guessed on the last 3 or 4 because I was rushed. I really wish we could see the tests at the end of the unit. Oh well, good luck ladies!! ;) Mel

Oh don't tell me that. I'm taking it tomorrow! Last semester I did really good on his first one and they went down hill from there. But I guess the info in unit 2 really is more important material to understand since it's blood and heart. I've set aside all of tomorrow for studying - no big celebrations for me - and I'm starting with A&P and spending as much time as necessary on it before I move on to my other classes. I set up my own testing schedule and plan to do unit 3 test on Sunday and then the following weekend I'm going to do unit 4 and 5 so I can spend more time through the week studying for chemistry. This is definately a fast pace, but isn't it nice to think we only have 5 more weeks left and we'll be done with all of A&P?!

I am taking her class, each unit we have:

-Chapter review questions (20-25), you cannot just answer them you have to give the full statement or question-due Sat.

-Webliography, find three websites related to the chapter and write a 5-6 sentence paragraph-due Sat.

-Virtual lab, type the questions in full and answer them (includes beyond AIA)-due Sat.

-Threaded discussions, post one by Wed., two more by Fri.

-A 15 question quiz with a 30min. time limit-due Sat.

-A 50 question test with a 90min. time limit, includes one essay question, multiple choice, true false, and matching questions which are usually 5 parts and only count for one point ea.-due Sat.

That's it! If you take it be sure to type out the review questions and labs ahead of time, this can be really time consuming.

Oh please please dont tell me that!! EEK.. I was so hoping the tests would be like unit 1 also. darn it.. well, do u guys find the quizzes on the marieb website helps you any? Its so hard to gauge what the heck to study for. And like you said Melicia, everything is so specific in this chapter, I guess because its the heart and blood or whatever, but my god, there is no way to know all of it? I guess its back to the study board today!

No big 4th here either! You girls have a good day!

Whew. That makes me tired just reading all of it. I'm so glad we don't have to type up all that extra stuff. I hate it enough when I have to go through and type up my answers to the ADAM stuff.

Oh, boy, I think that's too much work for every week. Imagine, you have 5 things to do by Saturday of each week (Chapter ques, webliography, virtual lab, threaded disc postings, and quiz or exam), not to mention the study time. This is a big joke! No wonder students complain about how hard A&P is. I'm sure the concepts are not that hard to learn, but it's the amount of extra stuff you have to turn in that's physically draining. What's with the Webliography? Sounds like a waste of time.

How difficult are her test questions? Are they from the chapter readings or from her slides?

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it.

I wonder if CCC online (Colorado Consortium) is any easier as far as weekly requirements. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks again.

No problem. The webliography is where you find 3 websites that are related to that weeks chapter, then you write a brief summary for each. The tests aren't too bad, but you really have to fully understand the chapter because there are questions that are not so obvious. I know what you're saying, I think there's a lot of unnecessary work that is meant to keep us from having lives....I mean keep us busy.

I have looked into CCC online for next semester (A&PII) and it looks like cake in comparision to this, but it's twice as much money.

I am debating over taking the full term A&PII or the shorter term, but I don't know if the workload is any better!??
