Edukan A&P2 summer session 3!!!

Published

I had been thinking about starting this thread all week and forgot about it. I guess the time has finally come! Class starts on Monday. I've been doing some of the ADAM labs to get ahead, but haven't done any of the "Beyond Adam" questions in the lab. I'm planning to start reading this weekend as well. Anybody remember what chapter A&P 1 left off with?

Come on everybody, let's make the next 6 weeks great, with lots of A's!!!

:monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance:

WELCOME to the class!

If the CD is still sealed then it should be fine. Wonder how somebody thought they would do it without opening the CD????

Did you take micro through Edukan with Simmons? How was it? I'm trying to decide if I'm going to take it this fall.

Hi,

I think the person before me must have dropped the class b/c there's hardly any writting and it looks like it was used for a day or two. Anyways, I took Micro through my local community college. I'm taking A&PII online b/c I had a hard time last semester in A&PI lab. I didn't want to dissect the cats and my professor wouldn't allow us to do something instead of live dissections or take any of the cat anatomy quizzes. I just hope his tests are fair. I think I read on the other posts that students failed almost all of the tests???? How did you guys pass the course??? It really stinks that we don't get to see the exams afterward, I'd like to know what I got wrong and what was the right answer. Mel

I still can't get the page to open - says the page cannot be found. Ugh! What a weekend.!

I started reading the senses stuff last night. Seems like there's a lot of details so far.

As for Simmon's test style - I never know what to study. What I think will be important isn't important to him. I think I got 1 A, 1 B, 2 C's and 2 D's on the tests in AP1 and got a B in the class. You get points for doing your homework questions and lab and for the threaded discussions. There's also some easy points in the first week for posting about why you're taking the class (at least that's what he did in AP1.)

If I can't get on the website in the morning I guess I'll call them.

Good luck everybody! Just so we know who everybody is when we're on the class discussions, we have Candace, Melcia, Amy, and I'm Lana. Anybody else?????

Hey Seemi! Glad you taking it and hope it works out for you! I finally got on to the site this morning - I forgot I changed my password last month! My old computer remembered all my passwords and put them in automatically. I'm sure there will be a lot more passwords on sites that I've forgotten! Thankfully, I've already completed all the lab work for this week - yippe! I'm going to try to stay on top of it though because it's so time-consuming doing all of it on the last day!

Hey girls,

Well, I hate to tell you this but I had to drop the class...after taking the syllabus quiz no less! Turns out after taking a good look at the schedule, I realized that I have a couple of nasty scheduling conflicts that will cause me to get behind (and flunk the class for sure) on the accelerated schedule. Ugh! So I dropped the class and signed up for Fall Session 2 with Terry Lee. In a way it might be cool, I was kind of looking forward to having him as an instructor. However, I'm bummed to have to wait to finish up the class and also about not being with you guys! :o I'll still check this thread to see how you all are doing.

Good Luck!!!!!

Candace

p.s.: Lana, I'm wondering if I can ask a favor? There was a student from CT that posted to the threaded discussion today, asking me about North Carolina. Do you think you might be able to get a message to her for me? I can no longer access the board and I don't want to ignore her question. If you could tell her: "North Carolina is great and I love the slower pace and better quality of life for my family, it is definitely some place to consider." I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!!

How sad!!! :scrying: I have to admit that I got a little overwhelmed looking at the syllabus, but since I just splurged on a laptop so I could do this class that's not an option. I'll pass along your message.

Yeah, you made a major investment there, I don't blame you! Actually, I was okay with the schedule...but I'll be out of town next week and would miss the unit 2 deadline on 7/5 unless I crammed it into this week and that's just not possible! Plus, my grandmother is ill and I have to be ready to go back to California at a moment's notice. Oh well. I'm just glad there was still availability in the fall. Thanks for passing along that message. Enjoy your new laptop...I love mine!!

Hi everyone!

I know it was quirky to post that he looked like my neighbor in the postings, but he sooo does...its weird! anyway, I cant find anywhere how many questions are on the exams..just that there is only 30 mins.. wow. can anyone this? also, on the due date, is that midnite on the due date or another time.. couldnt really clarify that either.. its studying the guides at all helpful.. I didnt think they were really that detailed so Im thinking there has got to be a lot of figuring out whats on the exam going on right?

talk to you guys later!

The time for the due dates is midnight mountain time I think. Which I think is an hour later than my time, but I try not to cut it that close. Maybe somebody else remembers, but I think the tests have maybe 25 questions? I don't really remember - have taken too many tests in other classes since A&P1! I haven't found his outlines to be very helpful, but I'm going to print them and go over them just in case. I had also bought the study guide that goes with the book for AP1 and it didn't help me, but IF I can sqeeze in some time to use it I may. I had just assumed that the testing schedule would be the same for this class as it was for our A&P1 where we had a test each week, due midnight on Sunday. Was soooo shocked and stressed last night when I saw that there's a test every 5 days! So much for putting it all off until the weekend! I'm so glad now that I worked ahead on the labs. I've already turned in both of this weeks and have next week's done and part of the following week. Whew.

Gonna misshavin ya in class:o Good luck w/ the next session , and keep in touch!!!

Hello everyone!! I am taking A&P II with you all!! I just finished A&P I on Friday. I took it with Dr. Simmons and had a good experience overall. The tests were 25 questions in 30 minutes. I did find the tests hard, but I was able to do well. Rather than just parrot the information you read, he expects you to have an understanding of the concepts. My biggest complaint with the tests is that you can't see what you got wrong (not even once!). As far as the Beyond Adam questions in lab, we don;t need to do them. Under the first lab assignment it says so, but I double-checked with Dr. Simmons just to be sure. I missed that little bit of info last time and completed all the Beyond Adam questions in A&P I. Good luck to everyone!!

Oh, I forgot to mention this. I have an "easy" anatomy book by Thibodeau and Patton called "Structure and function of the body" and used this book to learn the basics from. It is written much simpler and I found once I had the basics mastered I could use our textbook to learn the rest. It really helped me a great deal! Anyway, I just thought I would share!
