Edison State College 2014

Published

Hello! Is anyone applying for Edison(Lee campus) for fall of next year? I plan on applying in the spring for the evening program. I'm also in the process of finishing my last pre reqs and studying for the Hesi. I know the evening program is about 5 semesters but does anyone know if its shorter when all pre reqs are completed? So far I've gotten all A's in them. Thanks in advance

I hope we get ours this week. By the way, is there anyone else other than you and I that got into Collier?

I don't think so, I believe its just you and I on this thread that have applied to collier

No, I have not received mine yet either, but I wish I did...I'm so impatient. Maybe this week we will, although I had been told they would not be sent out until after the 20th of June

I thought the same thing. I was surprised when I got the packet in the mail Saturday. It was dated June 6 and that's the day that my fingerprints cleared so I'm guessing they start on the packet when you're all cleared? I'm not sure

Congrats to those who have been accepted!!!! I just started taking my pre-reqs, its going to take me awhile to finish them and apply lee day. Does anyone know how often the college changes their requirements? I looked at requirements to some nursing school and it looks as if they change their nursing entrance requirements every year or so.

Im afraid by the time I apply the program would be harder and even more competitive. Should I start out with getting an LPN then apply?

Edisons pre reqs for the nursing program are pretty standard and in the norm in my opinion. I don't think they will be making any changes as to what classes to take before applying, a big focus on your "points" are for your hesi exam and your overall GPA from your pre-reqs. Just make sure to maintain a high grade those classes and when its time to apply focus on your hesi exam. If you have not taken any entrance nursing exam before I would recommend you purchasing the prep book they sell in their store.

Nursing school seems to only be getting harder and more competitive to get into, but I wouldn't tell you to get your LPN first and then do a transition because thats just more school, money, and time. Just focus on gettings A's and B's on the prereqs and a solid score on the hesi and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Hello there! As far as I know the only requirements are the 9 classes and the Hesi. I applied with 8 only classes and a high Hesi score and I got in. Some people on here have gotten in with 7 classes but they had a great gpa and high Hesi. Honestly the competitiveness depends on who is applying that cycle with you. Also the campus makes a difference as well. Fall cycle and Lee campus looks to be the most competitive. If I were you I would stick with Edison. If you plan on applying for the LPN program at High tech then it's way more competitive as they only accept 20 students once a year. Plus I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the hospitals aren't hiring LPN's here anymore. You will most likely end up at a nursing home. Whatever you decide good luck!

I got into Collier!!! My background and drug screen are cleared, and now like you I am waiting for the acceptance packet. It has been the longest 3 weeks!!! Hopefully we will get them this week.

I noticed some colleges change their GPA requirements from a 2.5 to a 3.2 etc. I hope it doesn't change by the time I apply. Im not one of those people that get A's very often im more of B or C student.

That's what I thought. Did you get your CPR certification done already? I haven't done mine yet.

Hello,

Has anyone received the acceptance package for the transitions program at Lee?

Hello Rachel,

I was accepted into the transitions program at Lee. Looks like we will be classmates! Are you an lpn, paramedic or respiratory therapist? Have you received the acceptance package with our schedule yet?

Thank you and Congrats!
