2010 eayl spc

So I'm interveiwing for Baycare EAYL tuesday and I'm sooo nervous. I have been googeling and looking everywhere for info that might ease my mind alittle bit. here is some info so that you might not have to dig as hard as I did. You must go to the Health Education center and get the check list stamped. Also you must apply on Baycare's web site and wait for there email. Only TWELVE applicants are selected twice a year. Good luck to those applying I'll see you there and I'll post after my interveiw.

Really? Do you know how much notice they got before the program start date? I still have my fingers crosses they will be able to get me in there sometime. It feels like I've been at this applying thing forever! I keep kicking myself in the butt for not being able to make it last time around when they were accepting 24 instead of 12. Everything works out the way it should so we shall see.

From what I remember...it was like a month or so before the start date. Someone got accepted into another school...so he got it :)

Nice, hopefully that will happen again. I don't want anything bad to happen to anyone but I really want to get a spot.

HCA also has a program...it isn't as good I have heard, but it might be a possibility. Not sure if they are doing it again for fall.

Eh I've not heard much about that program and I know MPM is the best. I'd like to learn from and work with the best even if it means waiting a little bit longer. I appreciate the information though, its always been helpful!

Hi Morgan,

Could you give me an idea of what the first semester or 2 are like time wise if you are in EAYL? I am interested in how long I will be in school each day. I really like my current job and would like to continue to work there part time. They are already asking me for what my availability will be because I think they are looking to hire someone else for when I start school.

I did a little research on my own and this is what I was able to gather:

First Semester

Monday 1pm-3pm

Tuesday 6am-3pm

Wednesday 6am-3pm

Thursday 8am-11pm or 3pm-6pm

Friday OFF

Second Semester

Monday class#1-8am-9:30am class#2-1pm-4pm or 6pm-9pm

Tuesday 6am-3pm

Wednesday class#1 8:30am-11am class#2 12pm-2pm

Thursday 3:00pm-6:0pm

Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm

Thank you so much!

Jess 2010, you are pretty on as far as the school schedule goes. Study time is a BIG part of it. In my first semester I spent about 1-3 hrs/night studying and when I just took my final exam on Tuesday I spent 4-7 hours for 4 days studying for it. Also, when in school you will be spending time at you clinical location on your "free time". You have to go there and gather info/prep for your clinical days. I am not saying that working is impossible during the program....I would just suggest starting out light (part time) on the work hours until you can figure out your schedule. A girl in my class works full time and is super smart lol. Good luck! :) Hope this helps

Omg, I was just reading all the posts from this thread and I saw that Jess mentioned me saying my second enterview was in June! I am so glad that I only got my dates mixed up on here and did'nt actually wait till June and show up like, "Okay i'm ready for my interview".

Has anyone heard when the orientation is?

Also, thank you so much Morgan for all of your help. Your info really helped easy my mind.

No prob, Catherineisit :) I was on this site like every hour when I was going thru the process last year and everyone gave such great advice and support! Just wanna pass the torch :)

Just an FYI if any of you who were accepted into EAYL for Fall 2010. I was told by a SPC advisor that our orientation will be July 15th, while SPC's regular nursing orientation will be June 30th. So, we have a separate orientation.

I have a question for anyone in EAYL. I am having trouble trying to log into the baycare intranet at home to be able to fill out the form to get reimbursed for my books. I uninstalled internet explorer 8 on my computer and installed internet explorer 6. When I go to mybaycare.org it has the baycare logo's etc with link to MIC etc. on the top. But there is no log in area to get into the intranet. Anyone have any suggestions? If I can't figure this out at home...can I go to the Education building at Mease Dunedin where Deb's office is and use the computer lab there? I went there at 4 today and it was locked.

I would greatly appreciate any advice as to how I can get on to the baycare intranet at home.

Hey Jess, anytime I have tried to use the intranet at home I am unable to and I even did the Explorer 6 thing like you did. So now I just go up to the Education building @ ***'s office. I wonder why it was locked? Just give her a call (she gets back to emails faster) and set aside a time to go in. Are you about start level 1?
