So I'm interveiwing for Baycare EAYL tuesday and I'm sooo nervous. I have been googeling and looking everywhere for info that might ease my mind alittle bit. here is some info so that you might not have to dig as hard as I did. You must go to the Health Education center and get the check list stamped. Also you must apply on Baycare's web site and wait for there email. Only TWELVE applicants are selected twice a year. Good luck to those applying I'll see you there and I'll post after my interveiw.

Yes, people do use recorders. As for the backpacks, I know it is dorky, but everyone has some sort of rolling backpack. A lot of people, along with myself, use one of the rolling bins/crates from staples/office depot. You will not have to cary around all those books. You will be married to the fundamentals book, syllabus, math book and drug guide first semester. You will have your portfolio looked at like a week into class to make sure you have everything...after that...you wont need it really.
People brought in their laptops too. There will be times when there are days when all you are doing in class are skills check off (i.e. vital signs, dressing changes, head to toe assessment) and will have a lot of time where the instructors are with other students. So, its good to use that time to work on projects ( there will be a few ).
Helpful info...hummm.....well...make sure if you don't understand something to get help ASAP! If you don't, then it just makes it that much harder to learn the next. The thing that I noticed about nursing school was that it is unlike ANY OTHER! You can't just memorize the material, take a test, then forget about it. What you use in 1, you will use in 2, 3, and 4. Its all about critical thinking and problem solving.
Just don't overdo it. Get enough sleep! Set priorities and use time wisely :) It is a bit overwhelming at first, then you get in the hang of it.
I know it is a while until you have your level 1 finals, but I have a study guide that I got from a past student. It is HUGE (like 30pgs long or something) but was a big help...so message me your email if you want me to send it to you!
Good luck to ya!! You'll do great!
