Duke ABSN Spring 2018

Published

Hello!

I haven't seen any threads yet about Duke's ABSN program for Spring of 2018 so I thought I would start one to chat with other hopefuls like myself!

Also, if anyone who has previously been accepted into the program, any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! For now, I have a few questions:

- Does anyone know if they weigh all parts of the application equally?

- What is their acceptance rate?

- Any good tips for the personal statements? I'm finding that it's very difficult to articulate why I want to be a nurse without sounding cheesy.

- Where else are y'all applying?

I think that's all for now! I look forward to chatting with everyone!

@tytionnaforrest thanks for sharing!

If anyone else doesn't mind, I'd love to hear about your favorite things from Duke Days, or things you weren't as impressed with. I've watched the video recordings that Nora sent, but I want to know what your overall impression was. :)

I believe the best part of Duke Days was the Alumni Panel. We got to talk to current students and alumni about their challenges in the program, their favorite parts, and their life after Duke. I found them very helpful and relatable. I didn't see what Nora sent but if you can, watch the alumni panel. Also, Nora said that they will be rolling out decisions the week of July 31st. They already made their decisions, they are just waiting on the "okay" to publish them on the student portal.

I thought they were waiting until meeting with the people who are attending Duke Days tomorrow. So they already made their decisions even before that?

I was under the impression the reason for the delay in offer of admissions was due to administrative issues rather than lack of a decision. I believe the decisions are already made but they are waiting for approval to send out their decisions.

That's exciting/scary news! Good luck to everyone! I hope we all hear good news this upcoming week!!

i believe offers are posted.

Decisions were posted (or I least, I just got mine).

Andddd, I got in! Fingers crossed for everyone else! And fingers doubled crossed for financial aid!

Every time I try to log in it says

Error 500--Internal Server Error

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:

10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request

I got in! Congratulations to everyone else who was accepted! :)

If you read the email you cannot access the information from a tablet or phone if you are getting an error message! I was accepted!! Congratulations and good luck to everyone!

I was waitlisted! Does anyone know how Duke handles their waitlist?

I was offered admission as well! Congrats y'all! Can't wait to meet you in January!

Hi all! I was accepted as well earlier today, I dowloaded the PDF form of my acceptance letter. Now when I log into my self service there's no button to view decision or respond to offer anymore. Anyone else having this issue?
