Duke ABSN Spring 2015

U.S.A. North Carolina

Anyone else applying to Duke's ABSN program for Spring 2015? As we're approaching the application deadline, I thought it would be great to get a conversation started. If anyone is currently in the program, I would love to hear your thoughts about the program as well.

Well they have a seven year limit on mostly everything and I don't want to retake anything else...in his case psychology.

Hello everyone:

I too applied to Duke ABSN program. I'm somewhat disappointed about not having the opportunity to interview; I thought the interview would give me the chance to better introduce myself to the faculty and show them how passionate I am about becoming a nurse...oh well, hopefully my essays will be enough. Does anyone know the tentative date that we might hear back about admissions?

See above about the past Duke Days dates I posted. If they're keeping (roughly) the same dates this year, that means we might hear back by the first week to second week of July...

Hello all,

I just talked to one of the Admission officers and she told me notifications will go out the week after July 4th! That is VERRRRY soon!

Hello everyone,

My file is currently prepared for faculty review, since my last transcript will be arriving to Duke today. I was looking forward to interviews, but I'm also excited to learn admission decisions earlier. Where is everyone from? I'm currently in Abu Dhabi, but will be moving back to California at the end of next week.

Anixon,

Wow! I'm so excited and nervous. Hopefully, it will be good news for all of us. :)

Wow Skat! You are so far away!!! I am right here in NC about 45-50 minutes away from Duke. I will probably just commute. Hubby said that if I get in, we may move to a spot that more in-between school and his work just incase I end up working out that way.

BTW I am excited and nervous as well.

Hey Skat! you are soooo faaar awayyy! hahaha

Yes, I have been talking to the Admission officer about the GPA...you know, my worried self about the overall total since I have like 5 colleges. I am also upset with myself, I feel I should have tried more on the essays... I really think they are not very good :(

Anixon,

I know! Glad to be moving back to the States. That's great that your husband is open to moving closer to Duke. My family (husband and two young children) would have to relocate to North Carolina. We're all very excited about this possibility.

I also have five institutions on my application. But, I feel that this is not out of the norm. Since I was living abroad, I took my prerequisite courses at a couple of different colleges. All we can do now is breathe and wait patiently.

Hi skat12, I've seen you on the Duke boards in the past! Just applying this time around and did some reading on past rounds. I didn't realize you were an out-of-stater and that far! What made you decide Duke?

And though I know the breakdown is on the Duke website and in past threads, can a fellow-prospective ABSN student tell me the tuition breakdown costs? Isn't it like $25k/semester?

Anxion, did the admissions officer tell you what they calculated your GPA as? Nora was able to tell me mine.

You're right skat.

It will be what it will be right? I have to say that all those previous posts that talked about how the admission officers were just so nice and friendly... So true ! She is going to look at my stuff tomorrow and make sure all of it is good and that I calculated my gap correctly.

I have 3 kiddos. We just moved back to NC last month. We were living in TX for about 2 years. Mind if I ask what took you to Dubai?
