Duke ABSN Fall 2017

Published

Hi guys! I haven't seen a thread yet for Duke's ABSN Fall 2017 yet, so just thought I'd get it started! I'm excited to be attending the open house later in September and look forward to meeting some of you there.

Anyone know if they have some type a tuition reimbursement program if you work for them? I remember reading that a few places, but there seems to be a few different things I've heard about it!

The Duke University Health System does tuition loan forgiveness/reimbursement up to $25K (spread out over 3 years) if you work for them full-time after you graduate.

Do we feel like it'll be tomorrow when we hear?

Do we feel like it'll be tomorrow when we hear?

I hope so, but it will for sure be this week. Best of luck everyone!

I'm so nervous.

Me too! I've been watching my inbox like a hawk all morning. I have a feeling they won't tell us until Wednesday or later, but I'm hoping it's today!!

FYI I googled "Duke Days" and found a Duke announcement page that indicated that in 2011 Duke invited 141 applicants to that year's Duke Days. Not sure how that would break out between admitted and wait listed, but probably something like 90 admitted to 51 wait listed, assuming that 20% of those admitted will end up not matriculating for financial or other reasons.

No news here either, and since it is now after hours at Duke, I don't expect anything to change until tomorrow.

So the accepted list and waitlist are about the same size. There will be just over 70 accepted for Fall 2017. I know someone in the program now and was also told by admissions. I can't believe it's taking so long, I'm just about at my wits end and am running out of deep breaths. Here's hoping for tomorrow...

^ no, I don't think the same size, since that would assume that Duke has 100% yield. They would normally accept, as would any school, #slots/yield rate, then minus a fudge factor. At an 80% yield, that would mean they would accept 88 - a little fudge factor to avoid being surprised, so I would bet they would accept 82-85 and then see how many decline. Then the wait list.

If they were to accept 70ish, and that is the same number they can matriculate, that would assume 100% yield.... OR, they depend heavily upon the wait list, which seems odd, but ok, I hope you're right.

I hope that's not true.. Half the people are going on the waitlist and half admitted? Dang, as if I wasn't already so nervous :( I hope they send them out today, this has been a heck of a wait.

I have a feeling they will be sent out tomorrow..no real reason other than that they sent out Duke Days invitations on a Wednesday haha

Check your siss accounts!!! I'm in!!! Wahoooo!!!

Congrats @jdictson!! Is this siss account the Choose Duke application portal?
