Duke ABSN Fall 2017

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hi guys! I haven't seen a thread yet for Duke's ABSN Fall 2017 yet, so just thought I'd get it started! I'm excited to be attending the open house later in September and look forward to meeting some of you there.

Congratulations to everyone that was accepted!!! I was waitlisted and really hope that I can get in. The cost of tuition is...a lot. Does anyone know if waitlisted students will get an aid estimate?

I'm in as well!!! I was on the wait list for spring 2017 and we never got a financial aid estimate, so i'm assuming you'll only get that if you've been admitted.

I am waitlisted as well. Congrats to everyone who was accepted!

I'm also waitlisted. Do any of you know if there is a formal way to accept being waitlisted? Congratulations y'all!

I think you only have to indicate if you want to be removed from the wait list!

Congratulations to those who were accepted!! I was waitlisted as well. I wonder if those who got accepted to Duke Day all got accepted and those who did not were waitlisted?

Well I was invited to Duke Days and attended on March 24, so I think some of the people at DD were waitlisted

Hi guys! Congrats to all who have been accepted- you deserve it!

I applied to the Fall 2017 program as well and was waitlisted. Still trying to remain positive so I wanted to get your advice! Is there anything you guys recommend I do in the meantime while I wait? Should I send more letters of recommendation?

Thanks in advance :)

^ just thinking out loud here to answer your question -- first, don't do anything this week. They're probably bombarded in admissions and can't even think straight.

Now, they won't know how many they can take off the wait list until they've heard about all offers of admission. Only then will they know how many they can take to round out the class.

At that point, let them know you're fully committed to attend if you should be admitted off the wait list. Let them know why Duke is your #1 choice. Update them on any accomplishments not included on your original application. Enthusiasm goes a long way in life, as does being the squeaky wheel, so do both! Now, that advice is meaningless IF they have a rank ordered waitlist, but I'll bet they don't.

Has anyone received an email from Nora since decisions were released?

I haven't. Are we supposed to? The only email I received was after I accepted their offer of admission!

I accepted the offer but I won't pay the deposit until I receive the award letter. Financial aid told me they strive to get the financial awards released within 2 weeks post the acceptance letters. They also said they usually release award information on a Friday, so we should hopefully know by next Friday at the earliest.
