Duke ABSN Fall 2015

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi All,

Just wanted to get a thread going for those who are applying to the Fall 2015 ABSN program. What are some of your degrees in? Is anyone applying to other schools? Also, is anyone planning on moving to North Carolina to attend?

I did want to pass on to those of you who are considering Duke and didn't get to attend Duke Days. I attended the 30 March Duke Days orientation, and the school of nursing is definitely top notch. Duke is way ahead in regards to their simulation labs compared to other schools that I was accepted to and visited. Overall, the amount of money being put into the school in the form of facilities, medical equipment, labs, study lounges, etc., far exceeds most other nursing schools. Also, the Duke Health Care campus totally blew me away. I was treated at Duke medical back in 2005 when I was wounded during one of my deployments to Iraq with the Marine Corps. The clinics I attended at Duke are still there and being utilized by several different specialty providers, but in the last 5 years, Duke health has added a state of the art 5 story cancer center as well as a medical pavilion building that is unmatched across the country, except for possibly like facilities in New York and Pennsylvania, and the Mayo Clinics. I am totally unbiased and like most of us on here, was accepted to other top notch programs around the country. I visited UPenn and Hopkins, and even though those schools are amazing as well, I personnally feel that The Duke health care system overall is making significant strides right now. I was convinced after talking to the DUSON faculty and seeing the quality facilities. Just my 2 cents.

I watched the Duke Day presentation and I was very impressed at the attention/support the students get from the processors. Unfortunately, I will be declining my offer at Duke to attend California State University, Northridge because of instate tuition and clinical rotations at top-notch socal hospitals. I hope this opens up a spot for someone on the waitlist.

Can't blame you, Duke is very expensive and Cal State Northridge is a really good school as well. I had a friend of mine that went there. I'm happy for you, good luck!!

If anyone from the waitlist hears from Nora, could you post? I'm curious to see how many people they allow in off of the waitlist.

Does anyone know when we should hear ?

Does anyone know when we should hear ?

not yet. Just emailed Nora, haven't heard anything... Will post anything interesting here. Good luck to us all.

just heard from Nora, here is what she said, "at this time I have no additional information regarding the Fall 2015 cohort. Should additional admissions offers be made, I will be reaching out to students directly via email to let them know that an update has been made to their applicant self-service account. "

:(

Lol. That's the exact email she sent me when I asked a few questions about the waitlist when acceptance letters were first given out. She probably gets so many emails right now that she just chooses a reply that she has saved. :) hope some of us hear back soon!

Hey All, I just got my acceptance letter! I was on the wait list. Decisions, decision!!

Congratulations! You got it! Do you know if they send out all emails the same day or different days? If I haven't heard from Nora today, does that mean I don't get the opportunity? Also, can I know the deadline for you to make decisions on the offer? Thanks!

I got an email from Nora and I was accepted too.
