Duke ABSN Fall 2015

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi All,

Just wanted to get a thread going for those who are applying to the Fall 2015 ABSN program. What are some of your degrees in? Is anyone applying to other schools? Also, is anyone planning on moving to North Carolina to attend?

Thanks, FJD13. important info.

I am one of the waitlisted. The waiting kills me. I am taking statistics now and plan to take developmental psychology in the summer. Not sure if I should start applying for the next round...

@charming_kitty: It was on the acceptance letter that stated the enrollment deposit was $500 and needed to be received by 4 April actually, in order to secure the seat. So, you need to accept the seat by clicking on the "accept" hyperlink that is found on the portal, and then mail in your check deposit for $500.

Due to family reasons is it possible for the accepted students postpone this august cohort to next spring cohort?

Hi, Tinadonnie,

won't hurt to ask the admission committee, right? By the way, i noticed that you were waitlisted before. So did you just get the second-round admission? I am waitlisted too and want badly to know when we might hear from duke.

I'm 99.9% positive they won't let you. I recall someone asking at the info session last year.

hi, ncwildflowers,

Are you on the wait list as well? Have you heard anything from Nora yet? Thanks!

futuremahu, yes I am :) and no I haven't heard anything. I haven't checked my portal though. I am assuming that she will send me an email. I emailed her several weeks ago and she said "we will get in direct contact with you if you are taken off the waistlist".

I am not sure if I will accept if they do offer me a seat though. I am also very interested in UNC CH ABSN program. It is actually ranked above Duke's and its a third of the $$$$. They focus a lot on your volunteer work as well which I have a lot of. decisions!

How many people attended Duke Days?

Hi, ncwildflowers,

Thanks for the note. Yeah, I contacted Nora as well and got the similar response. I applied to UNC BSN May cohort----but was rejected. I think that is a very very very competitive program to get in. If I were to apply again, I need to finish all the prerequisites and as you said, volunteer work, which I have had none. Well, good luck to you.

I agree, it does seem harder to get into especially if you're a 2nd degree student trying to get into the BSN program. that's what I keep hearing from administration and other students. i guess this info should be on the UNC thread :)

hope all had a great time at Duke days!

exactly! I am a 2nd degree student. If I knew all the hidden rules applied to 2nd degree applicants , I would have applied to UNC next year. Anyway, I hope that i can get into Duke this time. I don't wait any more. And I really like their nurse anesthesia program:)--one of the best i think.
