I applied to the Duke SON ABSN program for the Fall of 2014. Anyone else out there who is applying for the same cohort? I saw that last year, the applicants got their interview/Duke Days letters at the end of January... hopefully we'll hear back soon! Good luck to everyone!
I have some friends that go to duke for grad school and they have given me some suggestions for some places to look at that are close to the hospital/nursing school. From what I understand, they are more pricey, but if you have a roommate they aren't as bad. If you are looking for lower priced places, you might have to go out a little farther. The ones that are closer but more expensive are: trinity commons, the lofts at lameview, the heights at lasalle, station nine, etc. pretty much anything along Erwin road. These are within walking/biking distance if that is something that you are looking at and a lot of them are on the bus route too. From what I have heard, parking at the school can be expensive. I haven't done much looking around at father out places myself because I think I want to stay relatively close, but I have found the apartment guide websites to be helpful narrow down what you are looking for and what is available in the area. I would love to hear what places current/previous nursing students have done because I think it would be nice to live near everyone, so I'm really excited for the Facebook page. Hope this helps some people out!!
@hopefulBE on the financial aid website, they said that for the 2014-2015 year the tuition was going to be $18,332 per semester (I think that is true regardless of the path you choose). I've used their 2013-2014 costs to try and figure out the rest of the expenses. Hopefully those won't change too much.
MzJazBerri, my friend who went to grad school at Duke suggested to live at The Belmont. It's close to the SON and it's affordable
I just looked at The Belmont the other day. I'm going to call and figure out some prices. A roommate might be in my future. I haven't decided yet. Definitely could use a facebook page to make things easier but I guess we have to wait for the second round of decisions.

Macbooks are fine, from what I have noticed most people have a Mac.
