Dropped lvn/lpn student needs help to complete diploma

Sorry about your situation but you have to go back and complete your LPN. There are no online or test out based schools that I know of that can help your situation. You need the clinical experience. Why can't you pick up where you left off? I think your out of luck at this point.

I don't know your situation or why you did not pass but have you looked at other LPN programs in your area to see if any of your classes will transfer so maybe you might not have to complete all of the course. I don't know if LPN courses transfer or not. Some schools in my area used to allow some RN courses to transfer from one RN school to another. Although recently some of the school are not accepting any transfer students.

Check with other schools in your area.

Have you talked to faculty at the program you were in? I know that some nursing programs allow you to "reenter" for a 2nd chance the next year if you failed just 1 class.

dear allnurses forum,
i have this issue that has been bothering me. i was in my final semester in an lvn/lpn program in community college and i was dropped from the program. i am so depressed and so disappointed. i put in almost a year of my whole life into it and it is all a waste. can anyone tell me of an online school that can help me complete the remainder of my curriculum and be approved/qualified to write nclex-lvn? i am looking for any alternative to starting another lpn program in another school from scratch. i heard of an online program called excelsior college but i called them already and they do not have an lpn/lvn program. indiana state university and university of phoenix are also out of the question because one has to be at least a licensed lvn to register in their programs. i am so sad and discouraged and i don't know what to do. please help me

can you comeback and repeat the class? i would do everything to return and retake the last semester so you can have your lpn. whatever the reason was, you can appeal and write a heartfelt letter explaining things and give to who ever is in charge. sorry no online lpn i know of. you need to hold an lpn license already in order to go to the above schools you mentioned and it's for rn.

I have been contacting schools within my area to see which ones take transfer students and which ones don't. The ones that do tell me that I must get a letter of recommendation from the Director of my former nursing program. That is another stumbling block to my transfering. This is so sad. Anyways, I never thought of going back to my former school to complete the last semester of the program. That is a good idea. However, my school graduates one class per year and so my last semester will have to wait till the same time next year. That is, if I am allowed to come back.

In my LPN program if you were dropped, you could re-enter the next year at the SAME POINT at which you left. Several people did too! Call around and see.

finish the last semester of your school's program, it is the easiest way i can think of. i think they will let you back in...you just have to wait though..

Hi Friend,

I just want to say that at my LVN school, you are allowed one chance to go back the following year and repeat the area that you failed in. I think you should do it! You worked this hard to get this far and it's really the best way to get your license without having to repeat everything. While you're waiting for the year to go by, I strongly suggest working as a CNA (I wish I had done that this past year---the ones who worked as recent CNAs are so much more confident), and reviewing all your coursework, maybe even take some science classes toward your RN at a Community college. Stay current in the field and stay in close contact with your teachers when you get back in the program. You can do this, you are so close.

I'd definately go back and try again. You have nothing to lose by asking if you can pick up where you left off. If not, maybe try another program. Perhaps RN would be better, you get more time and are not so crunched. Personally, I found LPN school much harder than RN school.
