Drexel University FNP Fall 2014

Nursing Students NP Students

Hi everyone, I couldn't find a thread for FNP fall 2014 so I figured I would start one so we can all meet/chat ahead of time. I'm currently living in the DC area and I'm excited to be visiting Philly a few times a year. Anyone else out there find out yet?

Hey guys! I also applied to this program last week. They had told me they didn't do rolling admissions but it seems like they do so I hope I hear something back sooner than June like they told me :)
They told me the same thing but oh well guess they were kidding lol.

They told me several years ago they didn't do rolling admissions. I suspect while not rolling exactly....excellent candidates are accepted quickly without waiting because why wait if the person has what you are looking for?

I am getting my resume together and hope to have it submitted by the end of this week. This program looks fantastic and I am really excited! Hope we can all take this journey together!

Me too! My nursing gpa isn't exceptionally great so we will see if that hinders me

I checked the online portal and saw I wasn't accepted. I was applying to the RN-MSN Bridge Program. My Bachelors (Education) GPA was 3.64 and my Associates (Nursing) was 3.55.... I'm really not sure what they were looking for, but I'm definitely disappointed... Good luck to everyone else who applied!

Im sorry sassynurselady....You have such a competitive profile that I really can't imagine why they didn't accept you. Im applying to the same program as you. I tried to log into the One portal and register for an ID but I seem to be having problems with that. Did you use that system to verify your status?

When did complete your application?

I submitted it about a month ago. I received my login info from an admissions person about 3 days after my application was submitted and complete. I checked it today and saw the message that I wasn't accepted. I don't know if it's an issue that I don't have a BSN (even though the Bridge program exists for people such as myself) and there are not many slots given to those with non-nursing bachelors degrees or what. I have 6 years ER experience and those grades. I was very hopeful that I had the credentials they were looking for, but I guess not. Have you found any other RN-MSN Bridge programs for NP school, Mimi1124? I have only found Widener and that's even more costly than !

Thanks for getting back to me sassynurselady. I went to Frontier Nursing University for my FNP. It is ranked top #15 and it is an AMAZING school. They offer a portfolio option for those that hold a BA in area other than nursing. I completed almost all didactic course work there but had to withdraw prior to clinical starting (like that week) due to a family emergency 2 years ago. they offer admission several times through out the year and I believe your stats are very competitive. The tuition is AWESOME! super reasonable. You should definitely check it out

Just wanted to add that the only reason why I am not going back to FNU is because I am choosing to pursue another specialty that the school doesnt offer. My family emergency enlightened me and i decided to purse psych nursing instead. if you have any questions about FNU or if you have any interest, I would be happy to answer any questions:)

Hey Tibby- I'm also in DC and will be doing the PNP program at starting in the fall! Let me know if you're interested in sharing books or anything like that, as I think our classes are all the same in the first year. cab58 [at] georgetown [dot] edu

Hi everyone! Congrats on being accepted into . I am currently finishing up my BSN, (I graduated in May, but have to complete two courses right now (over the summer) to fulfill my requirements. I applied to Drexel and received a wait list reply for this fall but with automatic admission to the following cohort (2015) if nothing opens up this fall.

Drexel allows you to take 9 or 12 credits ( I forget) as a non-matriculated student, which I think I will do if I don't make it in this fall. I do not want to put this off for another year. The sad part about that is, I would have to apply as a non matriculated student and that would remove me from the wait list, and would have to reapply for the cohort next fall, but they said they have never had anyone not get in when doing it that way. It just makes me a little nervous. My other thought was, if I do make it as a non-matriculated student, I could take the 3 "P's" at West Chester, where I live, and take the other ones concurrently at Drexel to really knock some courses out, not to mention, WCU are the typical 15-16 week semesters. I think Drexel will take up to 9 or 12 graduate transfer courses.

I heard that even two classes at Drexel are grueling. Is everyone working full-time and doing the part-time program?

Specializes in Peds; Cardiac, NICU, PACU.

Hi all! I am in the Dual Pediatric program for fall 14. When I look at the course curriculum we take the same classes for the first year or so, so if you wouldn't mind I'd like to tag along for as long as I can!!

Congrats to everyone!
