Hello all,
I just received a letter from Drexel saying that my application for the ACE program is now complete and I'm waiting for a response. I was wondering if anyone else here is applying for the same program and received an acceptance letter already? I'm trying to be patient but I wish I knew how long it will take...
This might be a stupid question... but where exactly are all of our classes located? Are they all at 15th and Vine? I went to an info session in that building, but didn't know if all the classes were in there or not.
Not a stupid question :) Yes, your classes are all at the Center City/Hahnemann campus. There are three buildings. Some of your HESI exams will be over at the Main Campus though. And something I wish I had learned sooner...there's cheaper parking if you're willing to walk a few blocks away from the hospital.
Hi hiddencat,
Here's my schedule, do you know anything about these professors (besides Wright & Dalrymple which I already appreciate your comments on!)
Thanks!

Dear AugustRain, hiddencat & any other ACE students,
I received the book list from someone, and am looking to purchase the "for sure" books now to save money/headaches when the program starts and I'm purchasing books all over the internet. I know many of these books below are going to be unneccessary/class/person specific but I wanted to know if you could tell me which of these books are tried and true, and you know/pretty sure know that we're going to use them. Thanks for your time!
Nurs 101
Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements
Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association
Professional Nursing: Concepts & Challenges
Nurs 102
Health Promotion throughout the Lifespan
Medical Terminology
Mosby's Medical Terminology Flash Cards
Nurs 200
Fundamentals of Nursing
Clinical Nursing Skills and Techniques
Fundamentals of Nursing Study Guide and Skills Performance Checklists
Calculate with Confidence
Nurs 201
Health Assessment in Nursing with online interactive
Nurses' Handbook - Health Assessment
Also there are no books said about Info/Nurs 204, nor Nurs 337 so if you know anything with the books for this class, that'd be great!
DO NOT BUY THE APA MANUAL. Ever. It's all available for free online, just google APA OWL and you'll get the Purdue University OWL website that has the most up to date style info.
I didn't use anything for Ethics. I had a different medical terminology textbook left over from a studyguide spending spree a few years ago and barely used it and studied off the guides posted on blackboard. I used nothing else for Health Promotion. Don't buy the genetics book (I think we were told by the instructor that it was optional). Fundamentals is important, Clinical Skills has pretty much the exact same material but the pictures are easier to see (they're most of the same pictures as well, but oddly clearer in clinical skills). I sold back fundamentals and kept clinical skills but probably should have done it the other way around. I didn't buy the study guide. I used both health assessment books, and FYI, you can find the health assessment stuff SUPER cheap on half.com, which is why I kept it when I was mad broke and selling everything
Wright and Dalrymple are the only professors I've had experience with on your schedule.
Yea, they do change books. We're using a new Women's health book this quarter which we'll also be using for peds (it's a combo text), and I think you guys are using some different books than we did in the fall. A rule of thumb is that you generally won't need to buy everything they tell you to, and worst case scenario, the books are on reserve at the library usually.
