Drexel Ace Fall 2014

Published

Hello everyone! JerseyGirl87 here. Is there anyone else out there planning on applying to the Drexel ACE Nursing program for Fall 2014?? I know it's still fairly early - applications aren't due for another six months or so, but I'm still hoping to find some fellow applicants (**fingers crossed**)

A little about me for those of you who may be curious, I'm 25, currently active duty military (deployed at the moment), and have had an interest in the ACE program for a few years. My ultimate goal os to become a Nurse Anesthetist.

Now that I've got less than a year and a half remaining on my military contract, it's time to start planning for what's next. I will be honest in saying that although I've had an interest in the program for quite some time, I am a procrastinator by nature and have not been very diligent in getting my pre-requisites completed. Part of it has been procrastination, and part of it has been a lack of time energy due to military and volunteer obligations, and other personal activities. So anyways, now I'm buckling down on getting my degree and other pre-requisites completed, with a goal of having them all completed by the application deadline - I know that this is not a requirement, but I'd like to give myself the most competitive edge possible in what seems every year to be such an enormous pool of applicants. With just over six moths to spare, it will be difficult (especially during a deployment), but I'm determined to get it done.

Here's a rundown of my progress, I encourage you to share yours as well...

Questions to you all to satisfy my curiosity...

What is your current professional field?

Why Drexel?

Do you have educational goals beyond your BSN?

Are you currently located in the Philadelphia area, or elsewhere?

If accepted to Drexel, how will you be financing your education?

Looking forward to your responses!

Lol...that I am not sure about. It could just be that most of their applicants are from surrounding states just because it's one of the closer schools. I am applying from Michigan, so we will see how that goes!

Don't worry about them choosing based on where you live. I'm in the spring 2013 class and we have a TON of people from California and other areas all over the country.

Thank you kind lady! I also called and they said they don't have a preference, she was somewhat confused at the question it seemed like, but the reason why I ask is because here in Texas for example in regards to medical school we have to accept 90% of Texan applicants at the very least by law.

Does anyone know what transcripts (domestic cases) is? I sent both of my transcripts from two different schools I've attended, and on the application website it states that I need to still send the transcript mentioned above in order to complete my application.

Hey! So I recently applied for the Fall 2014 cohort!

A little bit about me; graduated from Rutgers with a bachelors in Cell Biology/Neuroscience and Psychology. It was a really rough major so I didn't do too well, graduated with a GPA of about a 2.65, but I was hoping to get in with my last 60 credits. I'm not sure how they figure out the last 60 credits, but I'm on the edge of a 3.0, I might be a little bit below or above, not sure. If not, then I'm going to take a couple winter courses and apply in the Spring. I worked as a CNA for the past year and am now working as the unit clerk for our facility as well. There wasn't anywhere to write this on the application so I just went ahead and wrote the essay so I could work this in, hoping it'll help a little bit.

This might be a stupid question, but do you think being a guy will help me get in at all? I live in South Jersey so if I do get in I'll probably end up commuting. I had turned in all my application materials around 9/20. From what I've heard Drexel starts letting you know around Thanksgiving/ after October 15th?

Best of luck to those who have/are going to apply!

Hey I also applied to Drexel, I have all the prereqs with As, but my Toefl(for not native English speakers) is lower than they need(I have 84 with 22 in speaking, they need 79 with 24 or 26 in speaking), I still hope to retake it but for now hope it will slide & I have a chance... I wonder do they usually notify fall applicants?

JerseyGirl87 How is your progress with taking DSSDANTES exam? did you have to prepare for it?

I'm a bit unsure on the application process to Drexel and I wanted some insight from reader's into the overall deadlines....

I am aiming to the Fall 2014 or Spring 2015 deadline and when looking on the website it says October 15th is the deadline. Is this when they open up or is this the last day to submit? For example, If Im wanting to do Fall 2014, is the deadline to apply October 2013 or does it open up on October 2013?

The deadline is October 16 2013 which is the last day to apply for Fall 2014 admission. You can still submit your application for fall 2014 after the deadline but it would consider rolling basis admission. hope this help.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Oncology.

The application deadline was October 15 not 16, so technically it was yesterday. That was only for priority admission though (I think that's what they called it.) You can still submit afterwards for rolling admission but the sooner the better I'm assuming. I submitted my application today, just in the nick of time. I submitted a recommendation, my resume, and an essay even though they weren't required. I had to have the TOEFL exam scores waived because I was born in Canada but English is my only language. All I had to do was send in my high school transcript from the U.S. so it wasn't that big of a deal. I guess now I just wait!

So the people that applied the last couple of years all said that the earliest people find out if they got in was usually end of November, but I just checked discover and I JUST GOT ACCEPTED! I'm seriously thinking it's a mistake though, as the deadline was just yesterday... Lol... My gpa was also really low and way below a 3.0, so if you got in post and let me know!

NadaHin,

That's such good news!! Congrats! When did you apply by the way??
