Thank you RN1001! I'm happy for you!! Assuming I get in, I'm planning on starting out full time, because when I talked to the advisor, she said that you can always drop down to part-time later, if needed. I also am planning on working full time though, so I will just have to play it by ear and see how the first semester goes!

Hi guys! I just submitted my application to start in May of 2017 as well!!! The wait is so nerve-racking. I am in Michigan, so not really that close to Louisiana either. @RN1001 how long did it take you to find out that you were accepted? Or I guess, how long did it take for them to contact you for an interview as well?

That's so odd! I applied back in the beginning of August and it still says my app is under review which is okay because I wasn't expecting to hear back until November! But again congrats to those accepted already!!

Lol...that I am not sure about. It could just be that most of their applicants are from surrounding states just because it's one of the closer schools. I am applying from Michigan, so we will see how that goes!

Hi all!!! I too am interested in starting at Drexel for their ACE program in Fall of 2014!!! I just submitted my application last night, still somewhat early in my opinion but nothing's really going to change within the next couple of months so I figured why not. I am still in the process of finishing up my Bachelor's degree (BS in Psych), which will not be completed until May of 2014, but my pre-reqs will be completed by this December. I was banking on my GPA for my last 60 credit hours to be the factor that got me in but I just couldn't wait any longer to apply. My overall GPA is admittedly very low right now (i was not a good student for the first 3 years of my college career, had to learn the hard way) only 3.04 but by the time I graduate, I should be around 3.3, so if I don't get in this time around then I will be reapplying! Does anyone know if there is a limit to how many times you can apply per year? Also I do not know if anyone has checked recently BUT the pre-reqs have changed! They got rid of a handful of previous requirements! So the new ones are as follows: English: 3 semester credits. Chemistry with lab: 4 semester credits. Developmental psychology: 3 semester credits. Anatomy with lab*: 4 semester credits. Physiology with lab*: 4 semester credits. Microbiology with lab*: 4 semester credits. Human nutrition: 3 semester credits. Statistics: 3 semester credits. I am applying to Drexel because of the short program length and the ease of application. I also wanted a change of scenery as I currently live in Michigan! Drexel is only two hours away from my family in NY so I love that too! I am currently working as a nursing assistant at a hospital right now, as I have been for almost 4 years now, not that it is relevant in terms of applying since they don't even ask you that kind of stuff lol. I plan on taking out loans to finance my nursing education wherever I end up going, and I probably will try working once a week at a part time job. I won't be able to quit working completely while I am in school, too many bills to pay still -___- Well good luck to everyone! We still have a long wait ahead of us since apps aren't even due until October but I'm still excited nonetheless!!

I saw this question on another thread, and I am just going to repeat what I said there. Unless you are in a rush, I would just wait and do a BSN because most hospitals are no longer hiring ADN nurses. At the hospital that I work at, all of our ADN nurses are required to take classes to obtain their BSNs within the next 5 years.

I also wanted to add something that I read in another thread... "One hospital in DC received over 1300 applications for 40 positions for new grads in 2012; they did not even call any ADN graduates as they had 400+ BSN grads submit applications." "At a recent meeting of community college nursing faculty in my state, there was a report that up to 35% of ADN grads did not have nursing jobs 12 months after graduation." Sooo IMO it would be more beneficial for you to just go straight for the BSN.

As with the other posters, I would skip the ADN if you can. I work at a hospital currently and they are requiring all of our ADN nurses to take classes to get their BSNs within the next 5 years in order for the hospital to reach MAGNET status. I would assume that all hospitals are following this same trend.

I completely agree with zoe92 and carakristin1! I would apply to the BSN program now and start while you're ahead! I am also finishing up with my BA in Psych, and I 100% regret not applying to the nursing program while I was still in my first year. It will take so much of the pressure off of you, especially now since A LOT of people are going for nursing, and whereas the accelerated programs weren't AS popular before, they are just as competitive as the traditional programs now, if not more so!
