Hey L&D! Congrats on your acceptance!!

Everything Ive heard about so far is great, beside the distance you may have to travel for clinicals. I actually was accepted for Fall 08 but deferred and was wondering if they still had seats open for Spring 09- when did you submit your application/receive your acceptance?

I just got accepted to Drexel's ACE program for Spring 09 - i have heard some mixed reviews about this program, but i was wondering if anyone thinks this program is really any worse or better than other accelerated programs. I know its hard to tell, but any thoughts would be appreciated. I am very excited to start a program, but I am worried if there are actual concrete reasons that make this program not worth being a part of. Can anyone shed light?

I'd also love to hear from other students entering in spring - is anyone else excited???

L&D, I have been accepted for spring 09. congrats on your acceptance . I am so excited but also scared. can't what to meet.

I just found out I was accepted to the 2009 Spring start.. based on the open seats they had.. I have some questions and am looking for someone that might help me out~

Recommendations on 'where to live' The Halls / local aprt / main campus res halls?

I see several posters living in Buck County - is this a good place to live? Any recommendations on where you would live if you could do it all over?

Recommendations on whether its feasible to get to clinical sites using public trans system.

Any other general information...or your exp so far would be sooo helpful, thanks!!!!!

Just Cause,

I just graduated from the program. (my pinning was last night)

Bucks county is a hike (I think) for school. I lived in Delaware County which is just west of the city. I don't think people really minded living in Stiles (the housing on campus). Others were able to get apartments in the area.

As far as getting to clinicals with public transportation...... I would say MANY of them are easily accessible via public transportation. But for the most part people were able to catch rides with others and/or use philly carshare to get to where they needed to go.

Good luck!

JD, congratulations! Can you give me your thoughts...if you were back a year would you do it all over? Can you summarize by quarter your thoughts ie Q2 was really busy..but having good organization and a car really helped....

I'm about to move literally cross country and can use any positive recommendations to help keep me motivated and minimize any fear of the unknown college!!!

Hi everyone...I am super interested in 's ace program. Here's my deal, i graduated in 03 with with my bachelors. I was so young and could have cared less about grades then. I just slide over a finish line with a whopping 2.0 at graduation. 2 years ago started taking my pre-reqs and did great, nothing below a B. Does anyone have any insight on if I have a chance. I hate it that my undergrad grades might hold me back.

Also I am interested in Spring of 09 does anyone know if there are seats left????

hi, why dont you call and see what they say? i'm sure your most recent classes will weigh heavily on any decision....but the staff at drexel seem very patient, i'm sure they would not mind answering your question...at least you would know one way or the other!! good luck!

I doubt there are openings in the Spring at this point. You are better off trying for the Spring 2010 period, and if you get your application in before the "Early Decision" period. The minimum reqirements are an overall 2.75 (or 3?) or a 3.0 in the last 60 credits. I don't know if they would let someone in with lower than the minimum.

If I were you, I would try to retake courses at your old college that you had failed before, and aim for A's. I don't know if that will have a huge effect on your GPA or not (it depends if they replace grades or average them).

My undergraduate (biology) GPA was a 2.67, but my other zillion credits from my associates degree were about a 3.15 (and improved to a 3.3 or something). Overall, I think I just scraped by with a 3.0 overall. Of the last 6 classes I took (pre-reqs), I only got one B (nutrition - and I was like half a point from the A). I threw in a short Resume/CV and a personal statement (mentioning why I felt nursing was the right choice for me and a bit about how I messed up before but have since changed as reflected in current grades). I also took the GRE and had a decent score. Whether they used any of my non-required extras, I don't know. But, I was within days of completing applications to other programs (had recommendation letters, etc).

Good luck!

Regardless of your previous grades, you might as well apply. I had a 2.37 leaving college the first time, but I still got into the ACE program after taking some prereqs (with somewhere about a 3.5 for last 60 hours). And yes, I was still a good enough test taker to graduate nursing school. So to summarize, just send in the application -- what do you have to lose?

I agree with the last poster. Just try and see. You never know. The application is free to fill out. The only thing that you might have to pay for is the sending of your transcripts. Good luck!! :nuke:
