Don't know what to do???

If you want to be a doctor, skip the nursing and focus on a pre-med degree for your undergrad. Getting an RN degree first would be like getting a degree in speech pathology in order to become a family counselor. In other words, it's the long way around.

Why are you bothering with a nursing degree when you want to become a doctor? The prerequisites are not the same, and you will find by the time you finish you will be lacking quite a few classes for medical school.

If you are intent on being a doctor by 36 you are really taking the longest way possible. Get a bio or chem degree and aim for completing your medical school prerequisites.

So your saying I could be a med school graduate by 30

Lol that's exactly what my stepdaughter did! The speech pathology to family counselor route...and she could not be happier! That's all that really matters in life.

Ok you are 23. What you must do now is get serious about school and life if you want to be an MD. My daughters entered medical school at age 22. Figure out where you can finish your schooling at a 4 year university. your grades will need to be stellar and you must take the MCAT and score well. Polish your interview skills and expect to spend$$ on many applications to many medical schools. Remember, it only takes one. Go to medical school and study your a$& off. Take step one of the USMLE and make the highest score possible. This will determine the rest of your life. Take step two of the USMLE. Make exceptional grades in medical school. Win awards in medical school for academic achievement. Be selected for medical school honors. Choose a specialty for residency interviews. Get letters of recommendation from MD professors. Spend 10,000 dollars traveling to residency interviews. Rank the residencies and pray you get your first choice on Match Day. Graduate from medical school with highest honors. Congratulations for starting the next 4 years working in your chosen field at basically minimum wage and now work your a@$ off. Now, at age 31-32 you will be able to work in your chosen field.

My two cents are to think carefully what you really want to do. I am curious on why you want to get your ADN if your goal is to become an MD? Though these two professions are linked, the education is different.

Having an ADN is not using your time efficiently if you really want to be a doctor. Focus your time in what you really want to do, because in my view more than money, time is a precious commodity that you cannot afford even at your age.

Do all your pre-requisites in a community college, including pre-med if you can, you will be in debt enough once you are in medical school.
