Hey y'all,
Starting a thread for students applying to DUofCA's BSN program for Fall 2021 to share questions and concerns. Application deadline is Feb 1st for Freshmen and March 1st for Transfers. Good luck to everyone!

sorry for everyone else waiting.....receiving the denial to the program/admission to the program sucked...cried the first night but gave me relief that I’m not waiting for an answer. I picked myself up and started looking at other schools I’m applying to for next batch. I’m still waiting to hear back from USFCA....but IDK if they will have a spot for me ?
goodluck everyone else and I hope we have a better shot when first year/high school seniors aren’t applying.
@Benevolent You got into Usfca Spring 2022 right?
Yup! I’m just waiting for all my decisions before I commit!

@Benevolent I thought I recognized your name.
Can I ask what classes you took that allowed your app. to be deferred?
Just curious and how you were able to take Theology and where you took that?

As far as I know, it's most of the GE stuff. I would refer to this website: https://www.usfca.edu/admission/undergraduate/transfer/transfer-credit in order to see what requirements you would need from each college. Please note that you do not need to finish all of them. Like, right now, I only have like 2 classes to take - ethics and theology.
@Benevolent Gotcha...from that list I would need ethics, theology and a language LOL. I'll go sign up for a Spanish. ? Thanks for the reference. Congrats again! ?
Hi guys, I actually got accepted to the Nursing program but rejected the admission yesterday since I committed to SF state nursing program. I think maybe some of you guys' portal was not updated yet to give the spot for potential candidates. If there's a waitlist, they would probably choose from the waitlist first but that's my guess..I believe taking ethics, religious classes, and other courses required for graduation at DU of CA was a helpful part.

Thanks for sharing with us. Congrats!
When did you get the result from them? And how did you get the result ?
My penguin site has been same and I am thinking to reapply again. Is there any recommendation ?
How do we make our application more appealing? ?

I got my results on April 30th, last Friday. They emailed me about updates in my portal. I recommend to finish prereq as much as you can! Also, I did volunteering at hospital, homecare for children, bilingual experience and other curricular activities in my resume and essay. I believe essay and recommendation is an important part for private schools. In my essay, I incorporated what I've learned through medical experiences and why I want to become a nurse. Additionally, I highly recommend to submit work certification letter attached to your resume.

Thank you, I am currently taking Ethics(Phil 7) and Religious studies(Rels 1) at Santa Rosa Junior College. I believe these are required class in order to graduate at Dominican University. Additionally, take CPR courses as well since it is required to start the nursing program and just 4 hours of training. Getting a certificate can be helpful as well.
Hi everyone,
I also haven't received a decision so I went ahead and email Robert to ask about an estimated date if not this week. He emailed me back and said that there's a delay since there were many applicants for this fall. However, he also let me know (based on my application) that I was missing one of the prerequisites which was public speaking. I took Interpersonal Communication in a local CC and I really thought that they would count that since most schools I know seem to take it but he said that their nursing board is looking for public speaking. He said that if I take it this Summer then he could move my application over to Spring and that I would be much more competitive since I have completed my classes. Just thought I should let you all know if in case you took Interpersonal Comm. I finished all prerequisites and most non-nursing co-requisites that I know of.
That being said, I know that I didn't get in and I have been denied from their nursing program even though I haven't gotten any official results/decisions. I just hate this waiting game and although it's sad I didn't get in I'm glad I know the answer now. I don't want to keep waiting for nothing. I'm really sad about it but I have to keep going. I tried my luck in BSN programs but it didn't work out. I'm going to be looking for ADN programs, get my RN license in 2 years, and go straight for RN-to-BSN programs.
Good luck everyone.
