  1. AAUs, or Acuity Adaptable Units, are units that adjust care based on how sick a patient gets. If a patient's condition worsens, they don't need to be moved to another unit like ICU right away. Instead, the care level and staffing are adjusted—for example, the nurse-to-patient ratio may change from 1:5 or 1:4 to 1:3. Most medical and surgical units at Stanford are AAUs. AAUs are not equivalent to PACUs.
  2. Hi! For those who submitted their background checks, did you use the same references from your application? Or did you use new references? It seems like they want current supervisors and not clinical instructors?
  3. update: just got an offer about 30 mins ago!! ahhhhhhhh see you in august, cohort 41!!
  4. I did! Got a call around 5pm after my interview on Wednesday. Had my unit interview yesterday afternoon. Was told I would hear back about decisions tonight or Monday. Good luck everyone!
  5. I just finished my senior preceptorship at Stanford and when asked, 30 was the number that was repeated by the nurses on my unit. I didn't confirm with the program coordinators tho.
  6. I'm on the same boat. They'll probably send out the rest tomorrow? The webinar said snapshots will be sent out May 3rd and due May 7th. But it seems like that timeline has changed and is being reflected on the website—now May 4th and due May 9th.
  7. You're welcome. Let me know if you want other perspectives. I have a few friends who currently attend.
  8. This youtuber (https://www.Youtube.com/c/TiffanyRNnicunursetiff) went to Dominican. Her boyfriend, who appears in her videos, also went to Dominican. She has a vlog about the school.
  9. Are you a first-year student? Transfer? If you’re a first-year student (straight out of high school), your chances of being admitted are greater for Fall semester. Only a few seats are reserved for transfers for Fall semester. The rest are offered to first-year students. That’s because freshmen = more $$$$ for the university (they’re enrolled at the university for 8-9 semesters vs 6 semesters for transfers). That also means more seats will likely become available to transfers for Spring semester because freshmen don’t traditionally apply for Spring. Apply again in Spring if you’re determined to go to Dominican. Good luck!
  10. I was also denied admission into the nursing program but admitted as an undeclared major with 20k scholarship. I will be declining their offer because I have already committed to another school. Goodluck everyone!! Keep your heads up. I know you'll make great nurses!
  11. My checklist is gone too! The copy under "Next Steps" also changed. It now says "Use this page to navigate Your Penguin Path to Dominican." Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
  12. According to their website, Dominican offers merit scholarships which undergraduate students are automatically considered for. Scholarships ranges between 10K to 20K depending on your GPA. https://www.dominican.edu/admissions/tuition-and-financial-aid/scholarships-and-grants/undergraduate-scholarships-and-grants
  13. Hi @mpnrnmd, Did you upload your unofficial transcripts *after* you submitted your application? It might take them a few days to process. I mailed mine in and it took six days to see the green check next to my transcripts in the portal. I did not submit proof of my volunteer hours. I don't remember seeing that request anywhere.
  14. Hmmm, did you send them official transcripts after submitting your application?
