Dominican College ABSN / WABSN program 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everybody!

I recently applied to Dominican College WABSN 2020 and would like to meet current applicants, current or former students. The weekend program is very convenient for working adults, that is the main reason why I chose it. However, there are no reviews about this program, I would like to read about others experience and thoughts about the school/nursing program in general.

Everybody is welcome to this post, let's share our experience through this process.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link! How does their open learning platform work? Is like any other online class? Also, if you don't mind sharing, do you remember how much it cost to take this class?

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks!

Hi,

No problem! It was like any other online class. There were some due dates for labs, quizzes and unit tests. However, the professor was very understanding if you just told him you needed an extension. I recommend Doane if you're okay with self learning and time management. It was learning at your own pace with some soft deadlines. I believe it cost me about $1500.

Feel free to let me know If you have anymore questions.

Thanks so much! This was super helpful and glad that Dominican takes these credits...I started getting worried about not finding a place to biochemistry lol

@AshleyCap were the labs virtual or you had to do some at home? I’m thinking of signing up as well.

I haven’t taken it yet but I’ll actually be doing the biochemistry which doesn’t require a lab. But from what I was reading from the site, they send you all the materials you need for the lab sections.

@AshleyCap thanks for your response! So they have an option to take it without lab? I need to take biochemistry as well and it seems like they’re all with the lab component.

When I was looking at the classes on university of New England online, it looks biochemistry says lecture and Laboratories but under the section of lab on the syllabus it says N/A. I don’t think they have it for it.

here’s the link: https://syllabi.une.edu/sphp/chem-1005/

Thanks so much! I am also looking into Doane University!

Hi everyone,

Can someone that’s currently in the program share their experience within the program so far?

Hey it's been pretty busy! The Summer was mostly online on zoom and now we're coming to campus and even starting some hospital clinicals. Maybe it's because of covid but communication to us was and is still pretty messy. The professor's are mostly great though and we're learning alot! Overall our grades are really good and we've only lost a few people. The sim lab is super cool.

I asked the class and 1 person said "beware" and another said "it has been adventurous" LOL probably because of the communication issues

Hi ladies.  I am in the beginning stages of getting my pre-reqs. completed, taking the TEAS etc.  I just wanted to know some basic info. like how you did on the TEAS, did you study for it etc and how is the program going for you?

Hello,

We are in the ABSN program which is the accelerated program so we didn't have to take the TEAS. Are you applying to the traditional program?

I'm applying to the weekend program.
