Dominican College ABSN 2021

Published

Hello everybody!

I recently applied to Dominican College Weekday ABSN 2021 and would like to meet current applicants, current or former students.  I would also like to read about others experience and thoughts about the school/nursing program in general.

Let's share our experience through this process.

Thanks!

How did you find out that applicants weren’t going to be get notified until February?

I reached out to the administrator who said packets will go out at that time.

Hey! I've been accepted into the weekend program!! I'm so relieved because it's the only school I applied to. I received my acceptance  designation online Nov 24th 2020.

That's great! Congratulations

That’s amazing!! Congratulations!! Did you receive an email with the acceptance or did you check your Dominican student portal? I’m so anxious to find out!

Hey! Thanks guys.. I received an email prompting me to log in to my new student account. Once I got there it said I was accepted into the nursing program as of Nov 24th, 2020. I still have a few prerequisites to complete and it said I have to contact an academic adviser. I'm a little suprised that I got into the nursing program and not just the school itself. I thought it was going to be a two step process.

I haven't received anything in the post(or mail) yet. I still can't believe it.

Congratulations @Allie Lou! That's awesome, best of luck ?

I've applied for the weekday ABSN option so I hope acceptance letters come out sooner than February! I'm just as anxious as all of you so looks like we're all in the same boat here LOL.

Thanks!

So I received my acceptance papers in the mail yesterday. I was accepted to the college but NOT the nursing program yet. I still need to complete some prerequisites before I can officially be part of the program. It's a lot of courses and I'm a little scared but It needs to be done. I'm going to do them through portage online learning. How is everyone else doing? Has anyone gotten word through the student portal about acceptances?

I'm sure you'll be fine! As long as you have a great GPA you should get accepted. Also, your prerequisites must be completed before the program actually starts which would be in May. Do you have a lot of prerequisites to complete or are you able to get them all done this upcoming semester?

I haven't heard anything yet! I check my portal multiple times a day LOL but I still haven't seen any changes! @Allie Lou

I completed a couple of my prereqs on Portage Learning. I highly recommend! Their courses are self-paced so you definitely have to motivate yourself but its doable. I see that you applied to the weekend program. Have you taken the TEAS yet?

Hi!
Did Dominican say they take Portage learning classes? I’ve asked before in the past about what online schools they take and they told me Doane university or New England university online. I’m only asking because I just looked up portage and their prices for a class is a lot cheaper than the other two places so if Dominican accepts that, I know where I’m taking my next two classes LOL

TIA

Hey guys!

I just completed my last prerequisite through Doane. I took my TEAS a couple of years ago and sent it over. I haven't heard anything yet either on whether or not I got accepted and am suuuper nervous, because I didn't have the best GPA with my 1st degree.

It depends on the class. Dominican definitely does not take 4-credit lab courses from Portage Learning. I would reach out to the academic advisor and ask whether they would accept your missing prerequisites from Portage just to be safe.

Hey Guys!

Yeah I'm so confused. So in my portal it says I've been accepted into the WABSN program as a transfer student for Summer 2021-2022.  However, the documents mailed to me say my start date is May '22. I've been trying to contact them to figure out what is going on but no one has messaged me yet. I do have a TON of prerequisites to complete. My GPA wasn't the greatest and I have about 9 prerequisites to complete(it's going to be a rough few months). There's no way I could do these in a regular classroom by next May, especially because I have a 5month old baby and I work full-time. I went to the virtual open house and I was told that they would accept online credits as long as they were from an accredited school. I still need to write the TEAS, do a math placement test & writing placement test. Wait a minute, are these placement tests essentially ? TEAS??

It's hard to get in contact with anyone from this school! That has me a little troubled because they don't have great NCLEX scores and I choose this school because I've never heard of a WABSN program.

@AshleyCap The admissions office told me that they are accepting courses through portage learning at this time. Maybe due to covid? This is where I’m doing my prerequisites, including courses with labs!
