Dominican College ABSN 2021

Published

Hello everybody!

I recently applied to Dominican College Weekday ABSN 2021 and would like to meet current applicants, current or former students.  I would also like to read about others experience and thoughts about the school/nursing program in general.

Let's share our experience through this process.

Thanks!

Hello! You guys started on June 1st right? Good Luck! In terms of studying for fundamentals what was best for me was to review the notes and do nothing but practice questions to make sure I understood the material. The exams are not about memorizing its about taking the knowledge you have which is the core content (notes) and being able to apply it to certain scenarios (questions). When I took my 1st exam for fundamentals I am not going to lie I was not expecting the exam to be structured the way it was BUT after the 1st exam  I knew I needed to work harder and focus on not memorizing, understanding the material and being able to apply it through practice questions.  So Notes and practice questions. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info! That's kinda what we were told; don't memorize, understand the material and know how to apply it. It's just a lot of information and I don't know what to expect. Would you be able to possibly give an example of how her questions were, if you remember LOL.

Don't worry! Yes it's alot of information and trust me you will feel overwhelmed but just keep going over the notes and doing practice questions thats all I did for this class specifically and I did well. you got this! As far as remembering questions I am sorry but I don't remember. They were NCLEX style questions and the questions are made up you will not find them anywhere or be the same as the practice questions.

Questions like the ones that state select all that apply?

No, I believe we did not have SATA questions in fundamentals.

I did pretty well on the exam, thanks to your advice. I have no clue with pharm, I can’t seem to be able to memorize all the drugs. I have no idea How to be successful

Yayyaa! Congratulations! That makes me happy! In terms of pharm our exams were structured where it was half NCLEX style questions and half case studies. This class is purely memorization so flash cards are going to be your best friend along with practice questions.  I also bought a dry eraser board and attached it to my wall and I would write the medications over and over again.. You got this! ?

Here I thought pharm was hard. It’s no where near close to maternity. 8 chapters on the first exam? There has to be a better way than just reading the book to pass the exam

Hey! yes, maternity was definitely one of the hardest and anxiety provoking class. I definitely was overwhelmed.  what I did was I read the chapters and took notes from lecture. I did massive practice questions and this helped alot. There really isn't much that you can do then read and practice.  You will get through it. you got this!

Hey does anyone have any recommendations on where you got your practice questions from? I want to try and get a head start before the 2022 program starts in may.
