Does "we will be interviewing more people" mean you won't get a job?

I had an interview recently in CA LTC facility. I answered all the questions correctly. I asked them what they were looking for, and then told them that I have the skills for that position. Overall, I felt I did well on the interview. They said they had several positions for full time and part-time and asked me for preference. I told them I would prefer full-time but also can work part-time.

However, they told me, "We'll be interviewing more people next week, and will let you know in 2 weeks".

Do you guys think they won't hire me?

When the economy was better you could get the offer on the spot or the next day. This is how it worked for me as a new grad. That was almost 4 years ago and the US employment scene has changed. There are far too many candidates for each position. Makes it hard on everyone.

I had a interview on a Friday was told they had more interviews on Monday, and will let me know something by the end of the week. I got a job offer on Thursday.

I try to take what they say at face value. Interviews are stressful enough without trying to porifice and analyze everthing the interviewer(s) say and do. You're already stressing over all the things you wish you had said. Why make it harder on your self?

Even if the decision was mentally made to hire you, they will interview everyone to preclude allegations. Relax and see what transpires. Good luck.

OP, this is absolutely correct. My husband is a manager in health care and he is required to interview the applicants that are qualified for the job. This is mandated by HR. Even if he knows which applicant he wants to hire, he MUST finish out the interview process by law.

Don't sweat it. It is just red tape. Keep your thoughts positive!

I was told the same thing about this job that I interviewed for a few weeks ago. They called me back after the period of time was up (in this case a little less than 2 weeks) and offered me the position!

So it definately isn't a "no".

Good luck! Let us know how things turn out!

I did not get a job. :(

I'm so sorry. Stay hopeful. Consider this interview practice for the next round.
