  1. Hi everyone. I was accused of patient of giving him meds against his will. Because of this, I was placed on suspension. I went to DON and explained that this patient has always been unfriendly towards me to unknown reason. She asked me if the patient indicated that he did not want his meds, and I said that he did not. I was asked to describe everything in writing, and this is what I did. I was told that they filed an abuse form and that they will investigate. I told them that this patient has a hx of aggressive behavior towards staff. I also stated that I have been a nurse for some time, and I would never give someone meds against their will. I never had an accusation like this before. Could you guys give me an advice on what else I can do to protect myself? Can I loose my job because of this? If they send the form with accusations to the state, how can I protect myself from unfair accusation? What else can I do to influence DON to believe me? Please advice.
  2. I do not intend to sue anyone. I just wanted to know what most of you thought about the situation. I just did not expect it to happen, and so did my coworkers who I was in very good relationship with.
  3. The person who they hired was the sister of a full-time employee. In most companies, there is seniority rule. People who are on call would get promoted to part-time or full-time before they would bring a person from outside.
  4. The reason I asked again is that I wanted to know if most of you think what was done to me was not right. I know legally they were not obligated anything. But still, it hurts to be treated like this. It is one thing when they do not have hours, but another thing when they do not give ours to you, and give it to A NEWLY HIRED PERSON.
  5. hello. i would like to explain my issue. i was hired on call, and was working on call and full time whenever full-time employees could not work. overall, i worked 6 out of 12 months full time. in the last 4 months of 2011, i was working full time because i was replacing another full time nurse who was on maternity leave. since the beginning on january, no one has called me. i called the nurse who i trusted, and she told me my name was taken off the schedule and my name and phone number was whited out from employees phone number list. i called don and asked what i should expect(i did not tell her info i knew), and she told me i was on call. when i asked if i can use her as a reference, she said yes. later, another employee told me that they hired the sister of a full-time employee full time and that the sister of an owner was given on call position. i look for another job now and understand that my job at that nursing home is over. however, did any of you ever see something like this done to your fellow coworker? did you ever see your fellow coworkers get terminated for no reason so that their job will be assigned to someone more close to employer? let me know.

  8. I was interviewed last week for on call LVN position on Tuesday. On Friday, they called me to come to tour of a building. DON spent an hour with me showing rooms and talking about work environment. She said HR would call me for background check. As of Wednesday evening, no one has called me. What should I do? Please advice.
  9. I had an interview recently in CA LTC facility. I answered all the questions correctly. I asked them what they were looking for, and then told them that I have the skills for that position. Overall, I felt I did well on the interview. They said they had several positions for full time and part-time and asked me for preference. I told them I would prefer full-time but also can work part-time. However, they told me, "We'll be interviewing more people next week, and will let you know in 2 weeks". Do you guys think they won't hire me?
  10. Yes, I administered wrong feeding. He wasn't harmed.
  11. I started orienting in LTC facility. But I made a mistake of starting wrong G tube bottle on a patient. He was not hurt at all. In my whole nursing carrier, I never made such a mistake. I do not know how I did it. I told management about it. However, they fired me for that. I hope I never make such a mistake again. However, do most LTC facilities fire for this mistake?
