Does the NCLEX make sense at all?

I took the test once and failed but yes I wasn't prepared at all. I am studying very hard now for about two months and my general nursing knowledge have improved markedly, but I feel that it does not translate in a lot of success with the NCLEX practicing tests. My question trainers for Kaplan are mediocre and I'm going down the tubes on QT 1-7, #1 75%, #2 61%, #3 53%! (ouch) I did get 65% on QB and 66% readyness. I don't know what to do. When I take my time and think hard about the questions and carefully apply the tree I get worst results than if I just glance a little for 15 sec and answer. I guess I just have to go and do it until I get it right. Is there anybody out there that never passed? Does the rate of passing gets worst with each failing attempt? I'm starting to get that NCLEX sinking feeling does anyone feel the same?

Hey I dont know about the rate of passing and all that but I just wanted to let you know something. I did HORRIBLE on my kaplan trainers like low 50s on every single one of them. I took NCLEX this past week and passed with 75 questions. I really think kaplan was much harder, imo.

very nice to know.. because thats exactly what im getting 50s on my kaplan questions... which includes qbank and qtrainer.. i have two more q trainers to go and about 40% of qbank left... I will pass this time with the Mercy of the Almighty! Did you use anything other than kaplan as far as for content review? or u only did kaplan? and did you apply the decision tree when u went for the exam?

lol. funny how you said you did better when answering with just 15secs. i remember how i tried to prove that a few weeks ago. i noticed too, that i myself do better when answering with just a glance. i would look into my answered "minutes" after i finished 50 items out of qbank, and surprisingly, the 20secs or less had always been the correct ones.

but of course we all know this is not the right way to do it. lol so now i make sure i consume all of my minutes with the 50 items qbank.

No, I only used Kaplan. And i definitely did not apply the decision tree because I felt it just confused me even more! I jsut took it like any other regular test in school went with my gut feeling on what was right.

i got high 50's to low 60's with kaplan and past the first time with 75 questions. You should be fine
