hi mtmjnov,
As far as i kow NCLEX is only taken once, once you pass it you become a Registered Nurse of the state for which you chose to write the exams for (pending any other requirements that state may have for licensure e.g. SSN). The RN license has expiration dates too (just like here in RP) but is renewable, again requirements depend on which state you are licensed with. On your last question, nope you dont have to necessarily work in the state where you applied for eligibility or written the exam. Once you passed NCLEX you can have it endorsed to other states that has reciprocity with that state.
Hope that helps :icon_hug:
Hi everyone kindly educate me about nclex I checked the website but there is no info about the license if its lifetime or not. Suppose you pass the nclex as well as any english exam and still you opt to work here in the Philippines, will the license expire or is it renewable and how? What I only know is that you have to work in the US or the State where you applied for eligibility within 2 years, am I right?
Yes, it does expire, 2 years after. They expire on your birth month. They are renewable, fee depends on the state you are licensed. They also require Continuing education units (20 ceu in TX) You don't need to give them the certificates, just hold on to it because they might do a random check...
I don't know about needing to work within 2 years after acquiring your license...
mtmjnov,
From what i heard New Mexico evaluates eligibility faster than other states like CA and TX that's why alot of local agencies here in Manila let their applicants apply to NM and then just endorse the license elsewhere later on. But I applied in Saipan( a US territory), which at that time was very fast and now im in the process of having my license endorsed to NJ.:roll
I too didn't have hospital experience after graduating 12 years ago.But worked in a field still related though.
If I may give an unsolicited advice, alot of hospitals are offering training programs, I underwent one at the Manila Doctors Hospital.Just to feel back that "nursing feeling":lol2:
NCLEX-RN is an exam, it never expires. It is not a license, it is only part of the licensing process. State licenses expire, or need renewal every two to four years, depending on the state.
Once you take and pass the NCLEX-RN exam, you never need to retake it. If your application expired, because you are over the three year limit with CA for supplying a SSN#, you need to resubmit an application, but the exam results do not expire.
The results are good for life.
Now I am really illuminated, thanx for everything folks. I had my first training at a pediatric hospital for 6weeks and gosh, I really really had a very very hard time. It was so difficult coping with the time, procedures, everything. I will certainly undergo for more trainings. My previous jobs were so not related to our profession and I quit coz I got married and from then on, for 6 years I am a plain housewife.
