  2. Hi, I'm a nurse from the Philippines and I'll be going to Somerset this October and work as an RN at CNJJHA. I have a 10 year old son who is in Grade 4. My employer will provide free housing for the first 3 months. But I'm already looking at the possible towns near somerset with good schools where I can rent an apartment and safely raise my child. Would love to hear your suggestions. This is just one of my many concerns and I'll surely ask more of your advices in the future. Thanks in advanced.
  3. thanks titanium, I'm sure your visa is on it's way :wink2: I'll be going to NJ, my employer wants me there ASAP but.....waaaaa:bugeyes: I still want to spend Chrismas here:lol2: how about you?where are you heading to?
  4. posted this on page 66..loooong wait and alot of prayers since then Priority Date : March 2005 USCIS Approval: Feb 14, 2006 Lawyer forwarded DS230 to NVC: June 14,2006 NVC Approval/Case Completion: July 3,2006 Medical: August 25,2006 Interview:Sept. 7,2006 Visa Reciept: Sept 12,2006 As you can see there was a long wait between the submission of my documents and approval from USCIS.Priority Dates didn't move until December. You guys are luckier things are moving much faster now...so have more patience, what else can we do but keep on praying.Good Luck to you all.
  5. Hi guys, We were interviewed at the embassy last Thusrsday and got our Visas this morning (Tues). I was really surprised it was delivered that fast cause in alot of instances it took a week or two. Glory to God...keep on praying, all our prayers will be answered in His perfect time.
  6. Hi gab, my son and I had our medical exam last Aug 25, we went there around 1 pm and done at 3:30, lesser people already. No line at the cashier, xray and lab.We only had to wait for the physical exam, which is not along wait by the time we got there.OUr 2nd day for the immunzations we came back at 2pm and done at 4:00, again no more line at the immunization area but had to wait for the releasing of results. As for the interview we had ours last Thursday, Sept7.Our appointment was 630, but there were probably 300 others whose appointments were 630 too.Bring alot of "patience" as the wait is veryyyy long.We finished around 11:30.You can't bring food not even drinking water inside. You can bring candy though.Be sure to have the original and photocopies of your documents. The consul didn't ask me much, just the State im going to, the name of the facility. He asked more questions to my son....like what;s his name, age, birthday, favorite subject in school etc.Which luckily my son was able to happily answer. Then the consul said..."That's it......you're done".Then we just waited for our number to be called again for the pink slip (payment of courier service). Good luck to your medicals and interview.Keep on praying, God is soooo good he answers our prayers.
  7. Hi crumvy, I know it's terrible, but luckily the NJ BON is just waiting for my Visa number and SSN for them to continue processing the endorsement of my license. And I just hope like what Suzanne said that my license should follow quickly afterwards. So, I guess it's really best that nurses have their US licenses in the state where they're going to work first(if at all possible) or at last begin with the process of endorsing before going there. Goodluck to your NCLEX Crumvy...alot of prayers and faith in God you can pass that in 75 questions hehe. What state are you going to? I had my interview yesterday morning Sept 7 and all went well. Now the anxiety of waiting for our passports with the Visa!!
  8. I really feel terrible about it.You think I can actually sue them or cite that to void my contract with them later on?Cause the original job offer didn't state any pre-licensure rate, they "just updated" it since the embassy here wants a pre-licensure rate. That's why I want to hear from other nurses who may have had similar experiences with their agencies.Cause I heard some agencies even offer an $8/hr pre licensure rate until the nurse passes NCLEX in the US.Since we'll get a greencard can we just work at McDonalds then?(hehe just want inject humor in a really serious situation) The NJ BON said that they wont be able to continue to process the endorsement of my license unless I have an SSN and Visa number.
  9. (sp) tackled LOL
  10. It says in the packet 4 that we need to present a copy of the updated notarized job offer from our US employers on the day of our interview at the embassy. As tackeled in another thread here, failure to submit this updated job offer on the day of the interview can be cause of delay for the release of the Visa. The updated job offer is supposed to state your pre and post licensure rate(salary). When I recieved the updated job offer I'm supposed to present at the embassy it stated there that I am to recieve $10/hr and work as a Nursing Aide until the endorsement of my license to NJ. This came as quite a shock:confused: since the original job offer I signed did not state a pre licensure rate. To those who have recieved their pre and post licensure rates, how much are your pre licensure rate?(since it has been mentioned alot).Just so I (and probably others) can have an idea if their pre licensure rate is within the normal/acceptable range.
  11. They say patience is a virtue but if my visa got delayed for whatever reason I'd definitely feel the anxiety that most of you felt/are feeling right now.But keep on praying. I posted on this thread to ask, how much are your pre licensure rate?(since it has been mentioned alot).Just so I (and probably others) can have an idea if their pre licensure rate is within the normal/acceptable range.
  12. We're in the same boat gabgab that's why I got interested in your thread. But in my case I did not include him in my petition anymore.I'm bad eh? LOL:D
  13. just our babies/kids not US when we were babies...haha hard to find my immunuzation record considering it was 3 decades ago!Plus I don't think they gave a big deal on immunizations back then. You can go to SLMC for your medical anytime,it says in the packet instruction at least 1 week before your scheduled interview, but I think the earlier you have it the better so you will still have time if any other thingswill be required of you.
  14. Hi crumvy, My son and I went to the SLMC clinic last friday for the first day of our medical exams. We've finished with the laboraroty, physical exam, medical history and x-ray.We're going back tomorrow for the immunizations and other things that they might recommend. I will still have to get my son's immunization record from his pediatrician. They will not honor his baby book cause his immunization summary at the back of the book weren't countersigned. He was also recommended for pulmo follow up after a month.I hope that doesnt delay us in anyway. You can actually go there even without a schedule.Just bring your appointment letter.I recommend you go there around 1pm.Lesser people already. We were there 1:15 pm and I was finished at 3:30 pm but I still had to bring my son to xray so we were there till 4.Which is still ok, unlike those that came real early and still finished in the afternoon. Let's keep on praying that everything goes well for all of us. keep posting
  15. Congrats Titanium!!!:yelclap: Crumvy, My friend just called NVC and found out that I already have an interview sched on Sept 7 at 6:30am.I think they have just updated their list, you may also try calling them.I have mixed emotions right now, but more of anxiety:uhoh21: ...but no more backing out this is the day we've all been waiting for:roll .Just the start actually of more things to come. Praise God!All in his perfect time! For those who are still waiting, your time will come...keep the faith
