Does name of school matter?

Published

I am not asking about ivy league schools but does the name and reputation of school matter for a job? I have a medical degree from abroad with more than 5-year family physician experience. Currently in an accelerated BSN program. My question is whether doing MSN NP from an accredited online school( aka Chamberlain level schools) should do or should I get into any brick and mortar school? Honest opinion needed

Well I am currently in this area but I can MOVE

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

Since you can move, the cheapest graduate program I'm aware of is at UAB, in Tuscaloosa, AL.:

The University of Alabama - College Tuition Compare

The graduate 2019-2020 estimated tuition & fees at The University of Alabama is $10,780 for in-state and $30,405 for out-of-state students.

Nursing, MSN | University of Alabama NP online has changed it's program.... Currently only residents of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi are eligible for the Nurse Practitioner concentrations.

They do not assign preceptors, may assist in process and require signed letter of agreement.

Specializes in LTC, Med-surg.

It depends on the area. I’m in the Bay Area and going to a local university. I actually happen to work with a nurse practitioner who is an alumni of the school I’m going to and she stated all her peers got job offers. Local universities are more accepted because the practicing physician knows the level of skill of the students there.

@ToBeMSNNP
I am looking to start Uticas Accelerated BSN program and it sounds like you are in it or maybe even finishing up. I have some questions and was wondering if you could help me. Mostly, how is it going, are you able to do well at this school, and when getting accepted into the program, do they take prerequisite gpa etc? I have the perequisites and the 65 credits finished. Any info or advice would be so appreciated. I apologize, i am learning how to navigate this sight!
