I have 2 small tattoos, 3 stars on my left foot & a butterfly on my right shoulder blade. I wanted to get one more small one along my wrist. But I am not sure if I ever will because I don't know how that will go over going in to a career in nursing. I am currently still in my cna class....& someday hope to be an RN.
I currently have two. I have a butterfly on my back and I have stars with swirls on my side. That one starts just below my hip and winds it way around to the top of my breast. I will probably get a few more at some point in time. I really want a trail of tiny butterflies from behind one ear and going down the back of my neck...but there would be no way to cover it up unless I wear my hair down all the time. Oh well...there's always other places.
I have...alot. A big one across my upper back/ shoulders. A big lower back one. One across my lower stomach and one on my foot. The one on my upper back is not finished yet. I got my 1st tatt at 13! I am done (so I say). I think well done tattoos are beautiful and I admire women like Kat Von D for having the nerve to go all out. I am not saying I would go that far, all mine can be covered as well. Be careful, they are addicting
I have Anubis (the Egyptian god of death and the afterlife) on my left bicep, with hieroglypic symbols tattooed around him. I have a cherub from a book of Shakespeare's sonnets on my back. I have two Celtic tribal swans entwined together on my right leg. And I have a sun/moon/star tat on my right bicep that I am about to cover up and turn into a half-sleeve Day of the Dead theme, with sugar skulls and other brightly colored Mexican folk art. I have been wanting more ink for ages, and now I get to indulge with help of my awesome boyfriend's Christmas gift to me - a rather large gift certificate to be used only for tattoos. Yay!!
I have to wear a long- or half-sleeve shirt under my clinical polos to cover them, but it's not a big deal. I also have to remove a bunch of piercings for clinicals.
i have a little tattoo on my ankle...i got it there when that that was the 'cool' spot for a tattoo!! i would love to get another one... sometimes i wonder what it will be like when our generation is in the nursing home! all these old people covered in sagging flowers and barbed wire and old body piercings!!

it is quite a sight to imagine! but everytime i have some naysayer tell me how bad people with tatoos are going to look when they are eighty years old, i just tell them that nobody's skin looks good at 80, whether it's tattooed or not! some people just don't get the 'lifestyle' - and that's what it is. we don't get them because they're the trendy thing to do.

I was just wondering who here in Nursing school or Nurses has tattoos or maybe planning on getting some in the future. I currently have 3 ....the one on my upper right arm is a tribal with a pink rose and four blue rose buds that represent my four boys with their names above the buds....the next one is on my upper left arm it is a tribal armband with 3 hibiscus flowers (still needs some more work) and I also have one on top of my left foot it is a tribal with two flowers and vines. They are not noticable at all unless I wear a tank top and flip flops. I have seen alot of nurses that I have worked with have tattoos... of course they are not easily seen and also alot of my fellow classmates have them as well. Just curious to know how many "INKED UP" students and nurses are on here.:rckn:
