Does anyone else take Vitamin C?

Published

I may be crazy, but it seems like when I take vitamin C, I don't get sick if I remember to take it everyday. Also it seems like I get sick when I haven't remembered to take it and when I remember and start taking it again, it seems like I get well quicker. I also take a high dose multivitamin, and a high dose of calcium. Do ya'all think this helps me or am I just imagining things?

I'm a B12 believer. I get my shot weekly or monthly depending on how my level is and I take 1000mcg sublingual daily as well. I also take Women's Ultra Mega without iron (iron gives me stomach pains). I feel SO wonderful since I started my B12 shots. I recommend them to anyone feeling fatigued or getting sick often. My doc likes the level over 800.

Yes, I take a MVI, Vitamin C (500 mg BID), Vitamin E (400 U qd), Calcium 600 mg BID............I try to take it regularly, especially during the Winter months. I eat lots of Chicken and Noodle Soup during the Winter months, and drink Green Tea almost every night before bed, and sometimes in the early morning. I also got my flu shot this year as in the past several years. So far, so good. :)

Vitamin supplements with a proper diet, adequate rest and daily exercise will do you wonders!!

I don't take Vit C or any supplements, and I rarely get sick.

Vit C (and other vitamin) megadoses were first recommended by Dr Linus Pauling. He wrote two books about it many years ago in the 50' and 60's. He thought the USRDA allowances for vitamins were too low, and he reportedly took 12,000 to 40,000 mg of Vit C daily (more when ill) .

His results (that Vit C reduced the incidence and duration of colds) were not upheld in at least 16 well designed, well controlled, double blind studies conducted during the '70's.

One of his own research studies showed that rats actually suffered more skin cancers when given megadoses of Vit C. Rather than pulish that study, he fired the researcher that brought it to his attention.

He won two Nobel Prizes- one for chemistry ('54) and one for peace ('62). He died of prostate cancer in 1994 at the age of 93.

Here too. Extra Vitamin C, Liquid Calcium and Echinacea (kids take this too), extra Vitamin B's and Vitamin E/Selenium & Fish oil when I remember it. I forget the fish oil alot, need to start taking it again.

Absolutely. 500 mg qd and ~2000 mg when feeling a cold coming on. When getting sick I also add in Echinacea and Zinc. It works for me!!
