Hello my fellow nurses and aspiring nurses. I am very fond of this site and this is my very first post. I am in my last semester of prereqs at the local community college in my city. I am wondering if this courseload is doable if I work atleast 20 hours a week as a CNA. Microbiology Intro Chemistry EthicsHuman Growth Development World Literature 2

I don't know if yours will be like that tho. I'm sure that course load is doable. Like the previous post said, you won't have a social life but that's what comes with college -- it'll be worth it in the long run.
MurseGabe2B 22 Posts Jun 4, 2013 I'll be taking World Lit 2 online and I don't mind too much reading. Microbio and Chem are the only classes that I'm worried about. My friend took both classes last semester and she had to drop Chem : ( Thanks for the insight patiently_waiting

If I did take two sciences together, I wouldn't take it with a full course load like that .. but if you're dedicated it shouldn't be TOO bad. You want to try to get the best grades possible. If there's a doubt in your mind that you won't do very good with that load then you should maybe drop one class & see how it goes like that .. but that's just my opinion. 2 sciences, 3 other classes + working is ALOT.

Passable, maybe.I don't know what it's like in your area, but for my area Chemistry/Microbiology are MAJOR parts of what allows you to get in. You need to get an A in those classes to be promised a spot in the nursing program. Extremely competitive. For my paranoia, I wouldn't do that much at once, for fear of failing. I've been doing chemistry this summer, in an accelerated program and it's kicking my butt. It's only been 2 days, and we've already finished chapter 1. As long as your prioritize, you should be able to get through it. I wouldn't do it, but I really do hope you can handle it!! :)

If your science GPA is at all a concern I wouldn't risk it - Chem and Micro can definitely be done in the same semester, but with three classes on top of that .... I don't know.

I also took a Soc course and dropped a Child Development course. I did well overall, but I had zero spare time. I had to study in the car, between classes, in study groups and until late at night sometimes.

We had to write a 25 page paper for my class, it was a tough class! Maybe yours will not be. :). I could not do all of those at one time. More power to you if you can!
