Does anyone use their laptop for notes in class? If so, do you use a laptop or one of those smaller laptop (like the Dell Mini 9)?

No one uses one in our class....the tap, tap, tap would drive me nuts.

we actually got new mini laptops as part of a pilot grant program at our school and several people in our class use them interactively with the instructor. they can be a great help, but I also still like to jot down notes with pen and paper because it helps me retain the information.

I used mine thru school because I could type as fast as the instructor, no one in the class complained about the tap tap tap because we would all sit down afterwards and most times they could fill in their blanks off my notes lol

I use one for some of my classes. It's a macbook.
I use it for pathophysiology & will probably use it for pharmacology. It's the same instructor and she gives us an outline of the notes prior to class. I have a program called Notebook that allows me to put her notes on one side of the paper and supplement them with my notes on the other side.
I've also used mine in theory sometimes. Most of our lectures are on powerpoint so I can just type my notes at the bottom of the screen in the "notes" section.
I don't use mine in seminar class (smaller group discussion) or skills lab.
Hope that's helpful!

Yes! Just about every class.
I have a tablet convertible though. So, it can either work like a regular laptop, or the screen swivels around and lies flat....then I write on it like a tablet of paper (with a stylus).
I use it as a tablet for lab (we get so many handouts each week...sometimes >10 a week using the tablet, I don't have to print them out) and for any class that I'm going to want to write more than words (draw pictures, write formulas, etc).
Otherwise, I use it as a laptop.....the tap, tap, tap isn't very loud, and I'm by no means the only one using one.
CuriousMe, Do you get paper handouts? Are you scanning them into your computer?
Sorry, I should have been more clear. The handouts are posted on our class website and we're responsible for printing them out each week.
