Do any of your teachers give out final exam study guides?

Published

Just wondering. It really bothers me that we do not get one.

Well good luck to you! I feel the same way I would pay my teachers 20 doll hairs for a study guide.

My instructors don't make study guides. But it's pretty common in nursing schools for instructors to give you objectives for each chapter at the start of a unit. Do you have a list of those. Or are they in your book. It's an incredibly useful tool that can literally guide what to study lol

No sadly never get study guides for those either. :( I mean you can make your own but you risk studying material that will not be on the final exam ya know?

Do you suppose that the patients you will encounter will only have the things on the final wrong with them? Just curious.

What exactly do you feel the 'risk' is of studying something not on the final exam? Learning something extra? Would that be a bad thing?

No, but we had a "review" the class prior to finals. Basically it was about an hr to run thru the highlights of what was covered that semester & was a time to ask questions about any area that a student still didn't understand.

We do not get study guides for any exams throughout the semester, or for our comprehensive final exams. I've found it helpful to take the powerpoints we go over in class, as well as my own notes I take, and make my own study guide for each chapter exam we have. Then, at the end of the semester, I take the concepts from those study guides that we were tested over and make a study guide for myself for the final! It's help me to be successful in some tough classes. Putting concepts we spent the most time covering in class on flash cards is really helpful for me as we go through the semester as well. That way, when it's time for the final, I can pull out all of my flash cards to review for the final!

Good luck! :)

I am getting some help I am being allowed to review our tests from all semester so that's a big help at least!

That's nice you're being allowed to review tests from the whole semester! We get to look after the test but only what we got wrong..and only once. Lol and no we don't get study guides either we get content outlines so just this many questions over this subject. Not super helpful when it's like 3 questions, 4 questions, 5 questions, over each chapter. I too feel like it would be nice to at least have an idea instead of like here's 1000 power point slides we went over...I'm gonna test you on maybe 50 of those slides..may the odds be ever in your favor.

It depends on the class/teacher. The only study guide I got this semester was over 10 pages. By the time it was done, it was over 80 pages...typed

Would a preview of the final exam be acceptable or do you just want the answer key?

Nursing school is a special situation where you really do need to know it all not just enough to pass a test. What you don't know will hurt someone. School is just the basics anyway. You will learn a lot more nursing in the real world than a 3000 page book can tell you.

No a preview of the final exam or answer key would be spoon feeding lol

A round of applause for the nursing student!;)

Our instructors give out a book at the beginning of the semester with different points for each objective. It covers every single topic we are responsible for in each objective. So no, not a study guide as such but I just go through and check off each point in each objective as I study it!
