Yes, references get checked. Why would you think that they wouldn't?
Actually, if they're checking your references this may be a good sign. This is often performed by an outside agency and costs the hiring facility money ... they only check the references of candidates who have passed muster on the interview, qualifications, etc.
Yeah they do check references. I also had an interview this past Thursday, and after the interview with the nurse manager, she had said that I would be notified this week. The HR lady had to check references and stuff. Oh and I did get the job :) Start in a couple of weeks. Yeah I would think it would be standard to check references.
i have a reference from may 2006 is that still valid to use like in february 2007 when i apply for a job?i hate to bug my reference folks again for recommendation
It is just plain common courtesy to give your reference person a call and let them know that you are applying for jobs again and would like to use them as a reference again. That way they will be prepared for any letters or calls they will get. It happens rarely, but there are people out there that will steal identities and use your background information as their own. Your reference person wouldn't know this though.

I had an interview today and the employer said, that she has to review my interview and my refrences and she told me to give the numbers to her? Do you think, that is what is standard or I did not get hired?
