Do you have a plan B?

Published

As I sit here waiting until Friday when I turn in my application to the nursing program I'm wondering what do I do if I don't get in? I'm 30 years old and don't want to wait a whole year to apply again and possibly not get in again. So what else might I do with the pre-req's I've taken? Have you given it any thought? What are your ideas? I'm thinking maybe Dental Hygienist.

I've thought about pursuing ESE. My pre-reqs are done already for education, and I'm almost done with my AA. I've thought if I don't get into the LPN program, I can take classes towards RN in the meantime and reapply again. Honestly, I don't want to be an RN. Not right away, at least. But I have to keep myself busy!

Dental hygienist is a great career, too. Do what you feel is best and weigh your options. Make a list of all the pros and cons of both.

I am seriously considering Cardiovascular Tech

Nope, RN to BSN to CRNA or bust... Currently a Paramedic.

Have you thought about applying to more schools instead if changing your major?

Yes I did have a plan B. If I didn't get accepted I was going to take phlebotomy since I'm already a CNA. I was going to do that while I waited for the next application period, but I didn't have to because I got accepted :)

I live in an area that if I apply anywhere else I'm driving at least an hour one way so I'm just trying to think of my options.

I actually had no plan B. I turned in my application 5-1/2 weeks ago and found out today I was selected to proceed with the interview (woohoo)! I tried to think of a plan B, but there is nothing else that I want to do.

I am applying to one school because it is the only school that I have the pre-reqs for. If I don't get in for September then I'll re-apply for January 2014. If I still don't manage to get in then I'll complete the pre-reqs necessary for the local BSN programs.

I got my CNA after not getting in my first time applying and that actually helped me getting into my BSN program this year :)

My plan B? To go back to graduate school and finish my last year towards a Masters in psychology.

Could finish a bio degree. I think nurses have to finish a gen bio class, and micro, as well as maybe another bio class of some sort. But with your basics and a few bio classes that wouldn't be a bad option.
