Just wondering if people got in on their first try when applying to Nursing school. Also wondering what type of program people applied for (seems like all programs are so compeitive).

I guess I was luck b/c I got into a DE on the first try, but I know a bunch of people who didnt with excellent qualifications. It just made me wonder....

LC

1st try- Georgetown & Marymount Univ.:)

1st try BSN

1st try ADN

Applied to both at same time, willing to take which ever one would accept me, since they both accepted me, I went with BSN.

Specializes in Pediatrics/School Health.

2nd try, BSN - the waiting list was long anyways, but when I first applied they didn't even put me on the list because my GPA was a 2.49 and the minimum was a 2.50 (no joke); I had a VERY tough semester the fall before I applied (mono midway through the semester, then my great-grandfather passed away the weekend before finals - I was studying for my A&P final in the car to & from the funeral home b/c the test was later that afternoon; didn't help the classes I had were very difficult as they were, let alone with other stuff going on). I used my 3rd year of college to take "easy" classes to raise my GPA (I had to stay full-time in order to stay on my parents insurance anyways).

Specializes in Adult Acute Care Medicine.

first try, BSN.

I applied to three ADN programs at the same time as a first try. Accepted for 2, waiting list on the other.

1st try - ADN program in New Orleans, La.

1st try, accelerated BSN U of D Mercy

1st try - ADN program.

First try A.A.S (RN) at Roane State CC.I was told it would be really hard, but I did well on the pre-admit testing and I got my letter early!I am 40, so I'm glad I don't have to wait for another go around!:lol2:;)

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

1st try, ADN program...but I waited until I had almost all of my pre-reqs done before I applied so my application would be as competitive as possible.

1st try for a 3year BN programme.

I do find it odd that I had to apply to then apply.

First try BSN program, New Jersey.
