Just wondering if any psych nurses have malpractice insurance? Is this something I need to think about getting? I was told conflicting advice in nursing school and am not sure the best course of action.
Thanks!

Don't work without it! It's as important, or moreso, than comfy shoes and a good stethoscope...

See my article on the coverage limitations of nursing malpractice insurance. Some of the comments here are consistent with the confusion over what an individual policy covers and when you get an attorney provided by your own insurance company. Hint: probably not, for the typical nursing malpractice case.

Absolutely. I have had Liability Insurance from NSO since nursing school.

I have mine through NSO. I wouldn't work without it!

Yup, NSO. But job told me I don't need it.

What job would you not need malpractice insurance for?
The VA said it's not required for me to carry my own.
You should always carry your own. Never trust your employer, they are looking out for their own best interests.

Yes I carried it when I was working. I don't care if my employer would have said not to carry it. It's for my protection, not theirs.

Through NSO, it comes out to about $10/month. (What's that about - 2 fancy, schmancy coffee-house coffees???) Insurance that will be there for YOUR interests alone. What a bargain!
