Hello! Just graduated from nursing school and having trouble finding a job!
Does anybody have any leads for new grads in Phoenix area????
Good luck on your interview. I will no be attending the interview next week. I had tentatively cancelled due to a family emergency. I thought about then going ahead with it next week but after talking to the recruiter I decided not to. She said verde valley was accepting no new grads and that flagstaff would be accepting less than what was originally forecasted. My goals has been to move to Phoenix. Have you had any response from any Phoenix hospitals? I am thinking about trying one more time to send resume to every job opening I see and follow up with the recruiter but it seems like an uphill battle.
Everyone is cancelling their new grad programs:(:(, still try for children's and maricopa county hopefully opens their grad program on April 15th, there are so many hospital/college base programs in phoenix that they have to give their new grad openings to them. I was told by someone, that when december rolls around, those now who still r trying to get in, will be offered first. But that is a bigggg BUT- economy blah-blah. We all have bills to pay, just keep trying:yeah:
:yeah:. Not everybody that gets in, stays, for one reason or another. Hopefully we will all get in soon, good luck to you!!!!
Sorry siren 1 got clarification yesterday, all is good with Flagstaff,:yeah:
it was only cottonwood, when is your interview date, I'm praying mine goes good. bunches of luck and prayers to you, on your interview:bow:

Yeah, Verde Valley Medical Center is out. I was supposed to go staff when my seasonal contract was up (6 month contract). I was told today "there aren't any jobs." They completely cut the new grad program too, even after tentatively hiring new grads.
The good news is that as the economy improves (if ever) they will be hiring new grads. In fact, almost there entire staff is new grads - even in ICU. They can't afford experienced nurses.
These post are making me depressed I live in Iowa and will grad in May, we were planning on moving to Arizona after I grad and pass boards (family out there, husband grew up out there). Someone told him that they were in need of nurses, is that not true or they just don't want New Grads???
I am from California, not a grad nurse but I haven't been able to find a job in California for last 6 months. I am ready to relocate to another state (i.e. was thinking Arizona, Texas, Nevada) but after reading the posts here, I realize the job market is tough out here. I wish everyone the best, it is tough times for all of us.
The Phoenix area is not a good place to look for an RN job at the moment-- especially if you are a new grad. If you are planning to relocate, make sure you have the job first. Many of the hopsitals have hiring freezes and some have new grads that they need to find positions for due to fellowships. It makes it very difficult. I will graduate next year and I'm worried about where I'll be able to work even though I am in a fellowship program. Nothing is guaranteed for us. Good luck to all those still looking, I hope you all find jobs. I never thought that RN's would have to worry about finding a job for a least 20 years!!
I graduated in December 2008 and I still have yet to find a new grad RN position in Arizona. I took a couple of months off to travel before looking for a job but am now regreting doing so. It is very frustrating to have gone to school for something that is in such high demand and then not being able to find a job ANYWHERE! I am going to have to find another job that will hold me by financially until something comes up.
Well, let me give you a little heads up. I work at UMC in Tucson and from what I hear the new tower that UMC built will be opening in October. I would assume that would bring in a lot new employment to man the new and old tower. So I would keep an eye out for jobs at UMC in Tucson this summer.
Now that's depressing and scary....
Ya, i had that job interview at FMC several weeks ago. I'm not a new grad but I've decided that I'm going to keep my nice secured job I have already in Tucson. The position was for an ICU RN, but I would have had to go through some training program. I don't trust now that FMC wouldn't cut that out and I would be out of a job.
I did email them though on Friday cause I was curious if they even filled the spots yet and they said they hadn't and they hadn't offered any positions yet. So I guess there is still some hope for some new grads out there.
