As most of you I am burned out due to the current working conditions at my job. My hospital was bought out a year ago, subsequently about 6 months ago they fired all the management on my floor. The interim manager has been pretty much non existent. Staffing has been really bad as well. They have recently hired new management which does seem to be a move in the correct direction.
I have recently applied for and accepted a position in a non clinical setting. The problem is of course the pay is not nearly as good as my hospital job. It's Monday thru Friday. All weekends and holidays off. I can live in less money but is it going backwards to take a pay cut?

Going backwards from where? Being miserable in your current job?
It's been said too many times to count- money is not everything.
Great point! Thanks for your response.

I took a significant pay cut ($50,000/year) in my current job, leaving a very high stress environment and a supervisor with whom I did not get along. It was well worth it.

Mmm...if you're only about a year into this, the dumpster isn't even warm yet. Just wait. The shooting flames and explosions will be starting any time.
Leave, and congratulate yourself on your great wisdom and foresight.

As others have said, the positive aspects of a good job FAR outweigh the negatives of potentially reprioritizing financial issues. Best wishes on your next adventures.
