Do I go back to finish?

Published

So here is my dilemma... I was in my 3rd semester of nursing school ended up getting a bowel obstruction and was hospitalized for 3 days. The nursing school had the nerve to call me at the hospital to tell me that I was being withdrawn. I fought and fought to get back in to end up with a 72.9 in the class (needed a 73 to move on)... I didn't fight it.. I ended up hating nursing school and didn't want to be there anymore. Now 2 years later I'm regretting my choice... is it worth going back to finish the last year or am I going to hate it just as much as before???? Did I hate it because my school was horrible and unprofessional or could I have just really hated nursing???? Help!!!

When you say last year how many semesters you have left? It is challenging when some nursing programs do not accommodate to students when there is an event beyond the control of a student. If you're thinking about it 2 years later it may be that you're still interested but just frustrated at the process...how do you feel about it deep down?

Question #1: will your school even allow you back at your previous standing?

Question #2: If you hated nursing school, why do you want to go back?

I'm not really sure... I really miss learning and being a part of something. I was granted a medical withdrawal. I just don't want to put the time effort and money back into it if I'm just going to hate it again. It seems like most people don't like nursing school but is it that much better in the real world?

Did you hate nursing school before you were hospitalized?

I didn't hate it at first... I loved it.. it made me feel important but after the whole dilemma of being in the hospital and trying to catch up I just got really fed up and I'm just not sure if my frustration stems from that or from nursing in general
