I met someone in my chemistry class who, go figure, is going towards nursing! I feel like a weirdo though because I talk about the pre reqs for the schools in our area, and the tests, how things are done, etc.
Well she tells me I freak her out. She got a low grade on the exam, and is OK with it.
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences this? At least you all understand! :)

Nope. -_- Kinda sucks. But I talk about school with them all the time. Most of the time they don't have a clue what I'm talking about. Lol. They say "I'm glad I don't have to do that ya'll do too much work" or "I couldn't do it." They probably think I'm crazy cause I care so much about my grades. They go by the motto "C's get degrees" Lol. But oh well.
We have different scenarios but same conclusion. Lol. I understand 100%.

My friends that are going for nursing are no where as close as I am. I'm starting the program in the fall and they're still in english 101 and intermediate algebra. One of my friend's grades were so bad that she left the school and decided to get a medical assistant certificate at a technical school and go for nursing later.
So I've become friends with the people I've met in A&P and Microbiology. Though I wouldn't call them my best friends. All we talk about is how hard the class is or how we can't wait for nursing school.

Yes. My friends flunked micro and anatomy&physio twice. She sad she didn't go to class though. She is gong to a private school so it doesn't matter, I mean she has to retake those classes there but at least she is gonna start soon. J have one prereq left but I been taking in school forever and have a baby and having a hard time going through nursing school with a baby. But oh i wanna be a RN so bad it hurts. I'll make it work, there's plenty of other single mamas doing it.
It's nice having someone who understands everything your going through with school.

A lot of the students in my class have that mentality of "C's get degrees" and I'm in a 4 week A&P class! No one is ever paying attention, yet they "can't believe" how I keep getting A's on all of my exams.
It's kind of troubling since most of the students are pursuing nursing as well. There is a lot of copying and doing the bare minimum to get by.

I met a lot of nursing majors in my prereqs, some who were like, "Oh, a 72...well, I didn't really have time to study. My grandma has a cold, and my dog isn't playing fetch like he used to." The ones I've stayed close to are the ones who are more like me. It's not so much the grade to me (obviously I want to pass) as the effort put into the grade. I stick close to people who think the same.
I definitely agree with you. I gravitate towards those who want to work hard, and get grades they deserve. I have a small study group, and a couple really close people I talk to. We study together, thank goodness.

I'm kind of LOL'ing in my head about this thread! I have met several nursing student hopefuls along my journey towards nursing school. I have been taking pre req's/co req's for the last 2 years in preparation of applying to many programs in my area. I can definitely tell you who will make it and who won't (at least not while their priorities are what they are). The good news is I got into both programs I applied the first time and I start this fall.

Yes but they're ones I made doing my pre-reqs. It's funny. Some are like me, gotta get good grades, and some don't seem to give two shmitties. You can pretty much tell who'll succeed and who'll fail.

Most of my current friends are people I met in my pre-req classes, and while most of my pre-reqs weren't strictly for nursing students, most of the friends I made happened to be pre-nursing students. I was accepted to start the nursing program in the fall, and in my first aid class, I met some people I knew previously who would also be starting the program in the fall.
