Do CRNA schools care where you got your BSN?

I was hoping to get advice from current CRNA students, recent grads, or anybody familiar with CRNA school admissions. I am applying to RN to BSN programs and the one I'm likely to go with is the University of Louisiana Lafayette. It's 100% online and accredited.

I have a few questions regarding this (I'm asking these from a CRNA school admissions point of view)...

I live and work in WA state...would it look weird receiving a BSN from Louisiana? (ie online...)

Is it a problem if there are no actual clinical components for the RN-BSN program? I believe there is just a capstone project completed at place of employment

As far as accreditation or reputation, would there be any issues that you see with attending U of L if it is regionally accredited and also accredited by CCNE?

My alternative to U of L is my own state University which is nearly $10,000 more.

Thank you so much any advice is appreciated!!

I went to a school that is similar tot he one you are describing. No one asked, no one seemed to care. They did ask me about my science GPA, and my ICU experience. Those matter more anyway. If you have a specific school you want to apply to it never hurts to ask...

I loved my school. WGU. I finished in 6 months,

I did check them out but they give you a 3.0 I thought? Most crna programs I've looked at require a min. Gpa of 3.2. That was the very first school I looked into...did they evaluate your grades and change ur gpa cause they say they can do that...? Thank you for the reply!

Hey future, I was in Wa when I completed my rn-bsn. I went thru univ of wyoming. No one ever asked.

Some schools give extra weight to degrees from 4 year universities when considering the applicant. Most schools look at completely online universities with some disdain.

I do not doubt that that is the case. In fact, I was surprised no one asked me about my school.

but "most" schools?

Your degree will not indicate it was online. I got my BSN from university of Texas at Arlington. I interviewed at 3 schools and was accepted. Not one of the schools cared about where I got my BSN. Grades and experience were what really mattered.

3.0 will get you into many schools. I really wish people would quit acting like it is difficult to get into a program.

I've heard both sides of this story. A CRNA that I shadowed told me that yes the schools do look at where you got your BSN but I've also heard that it doesn't matter where you got your BS degree as long as you have a BS degree. I suppose as long as the school is accredited by their standards, then you should be fine.

Well, in addition to the 3.0, you have to breathe....at the same time.

I got my BSN from UL. Very, good, challenging program. I didn't go online though, so I'm not sure if there is a difference. If you want to know more about the program let me know.

I did excelsior for my asn, then Utica college (online) bsn, and I got into crna school without being asked specifically about them. Depending on which school you are applying, GRE, GRADES, EXPERIENCE are most important IMO
