I start this fall.
Is it an accredited program? It looks good to me and its not 2-3 years long.
I know the university is accredited but I'm not sure is any DNP program is accedited yet. I was accepted at several programs, even one that is local, but Chatham looked like the most realistic of the ones I looked at. Plus the have a full time and part time option which is a must for me.

I don't have any real information for you. It seems almost too good to be true. There is very little information regarding the "capstone experience." I also wonder if it is accredited. 27 credits versus 40+ certainly makes it a tempting choice.
Please, if anyone knows of a DNP program that is "accredited," post it here. I haven't seen any program that uses that terminology in their descriptions. Accreditation is critical to be eligible for licensure. I'm not sure it applies to a doctoral program. I'm sure if I'm off base, someone will let me know. :nuke:
I believe this program is set up for NPs who are already practicing while some DNP programs have more requirements for those with little to no independent practice such as someone going from their BSN into a DNP program.
that makes sense

LisaMSN:
The Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) started accreditation visits of DNP program last year. 4 schools had accreditation visits in Fall 2008 (and 3 of these four were awarded accreditation by CCNE in April). 12 more schools had CCNE site visits in Spring 2009 (include my institution). The official votes on these 12 visits will be in October.
24 more universities have been granted accreditation visits for the 2009-2010 academic year.
So most DNP programs do not currently have CCNE accreditation. As of today (June 13), only 3 programs are accredited. This number will increase in October.

You'll have to let us know how it goes. I graduate in December with my MSN but have hopes to start at Chatham next spring or fall. 27 credit hours --it just makes the most sense to me as I am only begrudgingly going back for the DNP (thank you AACN ) --to keep myself marketable with 2015 coming ....
Any one else have thoughts on Chatham? I have been searching for a month and have not found a comparable program in length except UAB's 34 semester hour program (which is where I grad with my dual MSN).

I know someone going there now. We were just talking about the school a few days ago, and she said she is "marginally satisfied." There was apparently some faculty changes, and things seem to be smoothing out now.
I have applied for the spring start there.
