I failed assessment by .2% and foundations by .77%. I know this calls for dismissal from the program but do you think I have a chance for an appeal of dismissal or an appeal to repeat the course? I got all A's in my clinical and assessment lab and I know nursing is for me, which is why I haven't given up yet. But in the case that I for sure get dismissed from the program, what are the possibilities that I can apply to other schools in the area and be accepted? I've done my fair share of grieving and I'm ready to do what needs to be done, but I can't help but still feel helpless. I have incredibly bad test anxiety that I didn't notice until this semester, so I did everything I could to handle it without going to a doctor. But the anxiety caused me to be very stressed and would cause me to over analyze the questions and create a habit of taking outside information and incorporating them into the questions. I second guess myself often and have found that I lack in confidence in myself. But to compensate in my lack of confidence, I study so much so I know every detail necessary for each question. I never opted for tutoring because I understood each concept handed to me, but the anxiety would affect my test taking. What should I do now? I'm very lost.

Write an appeal letter addressed to the Dean of Nursing in which you identify identify your mistakes and your plan to correct them.
It may be necessary to seek counseling and treatment for help managing anxiety and a tutor of some sort to learn test taking strategies.

Some schools accommodate test anxiety by allowing you to take it in a private room with one proctor. However it won't help you prepare for the nclex environment. You might not need a dr or medications you might just need to learn meditation techniques. One technique is using deep breathing exercises and can be incredibly effective despite how simple it sounds!
I can't help with the rest. I just know it's probably not likely to win an appeal. It was your responsibility to see and address the problem sooner, and unfortunately not until after your final grades.
Other schools will love to hear about how you have a plan to beat your test anxiety and ways you'll succeed!

I am so sorry that you are going through this. You can't give up. I would write an appeal letter and try to fight it. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. If they say, rules are rules. Then you have to apply for another program. If you feel you don't have time to be waitlisted for a BSN program, then do ADN and then RN-BSN online as soon as your finished. For testing anxiety. This is very scary and I had issues with this as well. For some of my last exams in nursing school. I did yoga in the mornings and said my prayers. I ask him to touch my spirit, and stimulate my brain to choose the right answers. I also literally take loud audible deep breaths while in the testing room if I feel my chest tightening. You have to trust yourself, study the material in and out and clear your head as best as you can. Exams will get way harder no matter which program you are in, so you have to deal with the anxiety first! It is sickening, I know but you have to tell yourself it's not an option to fail. Also, don't read the book. Only study the slides and use the book for areas you have trouble with or self study material. It will only go into too much detail and waste your time. I hope this helps. May God bless you and help you get through this !!

Since the topic pertains to UTA's nursing program, this thread has been moved to our University of Texas Arlington Online Nursing forum. Good luck to you.

I agree with all the previous comments! Write an appeal letter and make a meeting with the dean of nursing!

I go to UTA and one of the girls in my clinical group failed one of the first nursing classes for the 2nd time. She was dismissed from the program and another girl at the same time failed clinical and was required to repeat the course. She was given a chance to attend an additional clinical day but refused. I say this because it all depends on the type of student you are and who you know. If I were you I would contact the instructor and ask if there is anything that you can do to make up the grade. Depending on the teacher they may allow you to make up something to change your grade. Some teachers are nice and some definitely go by the book. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear that you were dismissed from the program. Have you attempted to talk about your grades with the instructors? Even though grades have been posted you can still obtain a grade appeal. I would ask your instructors if there is any additional work that can be done or if you could redo some work that you have already completed just so that you will be able to pass.
I took Foundations last year and I found the instructor to be an extremely nice and understanding person. I would try to work something out with the Foundations instructor first.

Hi guys I know this is an old post but I am really nervous that I would fail my clinical portion of foundations. I am studying but I do not understand why it doesn't click sometimes. How can I improve on critical thinking? Also there's only two more clinicals left, I don't know if i can redeem myself from it.
Can I please get some advice? Thank you
