Hi guys,
It has been about a year since I got dismissed from my nursing program. During my fall semester I did not meet the passing requirement of 75%. They offered a re-take of the course the following semester so that if I did pass, I could still be on time for graduation with my cohort. Unfortunately, I was off 0.5% from passing during the Summer re-take. The policy is clear that if we do not pass the 2nd time, we get dismissed from the program. As hard as it was... I have come to accept it.
For the past year I have been re-taking pre-requisite courses that I got C's in and have been getting A's and taking my TEAS exam so that I could re-apply to another nursing program around my area. I applied this past Fall 2020 and got rejected. I assume it is because my GPA and TEAS score was not high enough.. But there could be a possibility that they saw/know I got dismissed from another nursing program.... Nevertheless, I am currently working on bringing both up for the next round of applications in October.
Since transcripts must be sent into the university to have your file looked at, does anyone know if the admissions will see that I got dismissed from a previous program?
Should I include that I got dismissed from a previous program and how I plan to do better this time around (if accepted) in my personal statement?
Anyone with a similar story or answers to my questions are welcome ?

I'm not sure if they can tell you were dismissed. I imagine only if it appears on your transcript would they see it. The programs near me don't even require a personal statement, they just look at your GPA on the pre-reqs and your test score. But I'd say it might be a good idea to address it in your personal statement, IF you highlight what you learned from your first experience, and how you plan to improve this time. It might even set you apart in a good way.

Did you receive any financial aid from the state/government in your previous program? If so, your previous nursing enrollment will be found. Are you asking if the school you were dismissed from will note that on your transcripts? Of course....
Trying for the third time in a nursing program, is kind of hitting your head against the wall. Why not investigate an OTA, PTA, RT program. The prereqs are usually the same.

You'll be surprised. I was told someone who went through...wait for it.....11 nursing programs and still didn't manage to graduate LOL.

I certainly wouldn't entertain this idea that didn't meet their end goal. This is giving dead end advice sorry to say. They want to be nurse and let them try.

I'm not sure if they'll automatically know that you were dismissed, but most schools I applied to (after having previously been in a nursing program), needed me to have a form filled out from my previous program stating my academic standing within the program in the past. But even with failing a course, some programs might still take you! All you can do is try.
