Discussing Grades with Other Students

Published

Hello everyone. I am in my first semester. How do you guys feel about sharing your grades with other students? In my class it seems like eveyones grades are open for sharing/discussions. Some students are so nosy. They have no issues with asking you specifically what you got. I am soo annoyed with this I am a private person. And quite frankly I don't think it's anyones business. Why is saying that " I passed, or did ok" not good enough. I think grades should be a private matter between the individual student and the instructor. I already hear others backbiting others from who is lying about their grades, to who has no kids or job so they can study all day and make good grades...ugggg I am so annoyed. I think folks need to focus on them and what they need to do to get through instead of worrying about what everyone else is doing.

I am also in my first semester of NS, and it is frustrating how much of this goes on. I have a close friend that I disscuss my grade with, other than that I take a hard line of "I did OK, or I passed" like you do. You could even tell someone it is not their business if you are assertive enough to do so.

my professors do an excellent job making sure our grades are confidential. no one in my class has asked, but someone from another class asked which i thought was weird.

Grades are sort of like that question "how much money do you make" I hate that question. Google how much I make lol

hi....

Or next time someone asks what grade did you get....you could just say "I am happy with the grade I got".....so you don't have to let anyone know if you made an "A" or in worse case scenario, a "F". (I know noone is happy with a "F"..but this way no one has to know but you what grade you made)

Sometimes it's just nice to know you didn't get the only F :coollook:.

Plenty of academic competition and jealousy existed in the LVN program that I attended, so the wisest people knew to keep their mouths shut regarding their grades. I'll be attending an RN program starting in January, and my grades will remain my business. No one needs to know this information except my instructors and me.

Personally I have no problem sharing my grades. However, if I ask how someone did and they say ok or good that is fine by me and I would not push. In my class grades are a common topic and a way that we all bond I guess. We all feel for eachother when we don't do so well and praise eachother when we do. I have to say that I have some great classmates.

Some people have mentioned on here that they felt backlash when they made A's and luckily I have not felt any of that. Instead I have some people asking me for tips and looking to me to help them, which I gladly do.

I must not be a very private person because someone asking me how much money I make is not offensive to me either. If someone is nosey and wants to know it doesn't matter to me. I am one who couldn't care less what someone thinks of me.

People do this at my school all the time. It's insane how competitive people can be....I mean, come on, we're in the program now! :banghead:

I do not go around sharing what I got, but if someone asks I have no problem telling them and discussing the questions I got wrong so we can compare answers and learn from one another.

I'll tell anyone who wants to know what my grade is. The way I see it, we're all in this together. Also, letting everyone know how I did helps to avoid the speculation that goes on about those who are secretive about it; rumors that you are failing, or got 100, etc...

If we ask what someone got in front of our instructors they will remind us that it is none of our business and confidential. We do however talk, and I am perfectly ok with someone asking me or telling me that they did ok, not so well or whatever. However if you don't want to talk about it then you shouldn't. Also if I did better then someone I may be able to help them or they may be able to help me if they did better.

I have no problem discussing grades. But I believe its up to each person. In my class the majority of us share our grades! But its to support each other, not used to tear someone down!
