My plans just hit a major roadblock! I've been doing my pre-req's with the intent on submitting my application to 2 different schools. One required Elem. Algebra and Chem and the other required Elem Algebra, Chem and Gen Biology. I'm finishing up Gen Biology next week. Both the schools are ADN and one is competitive (the one that I didn't have to take Bio) and the other is waiting list and the one I had my heart set on. I just checked the nursing page and they freaking added 6 more classes before I can submit my app! After next semester I'll only have 3 more to take but I was going to be able to put it in next week, now I have to wait another year! And 4 of the classes are legitimate bc they are A&P, Int. Algebra, Psych and Eng. Comp, but the other 2 are Communications between cultures and library research. WTH! Those won't transfer and the other 4 are normally just co-req's. I'm just upset bc my light at the end of the tunnel is now even longer because I'd like to think ill get in the other school but its competitive and only take 30 out of 350 applicants. Now I'm just trying to decide if I take the other 2 bullcrap classes and stay on the path to that program or just switch it up completely and try going somewhere else, maybe even my BSN. I'm taking A&P and Psych next semester and if I take the other 3 I need then it'll be a year between A&p1 and 2. I'm wondering if they are just bombarded with applicants and is trying to find a way to curve people away? I'm also wondering if the normal 2 year wait list will now be shorter with people like me not wanting to take unrelated courses and taking courses that will actually transfer for a BSN. If I now go the BSN route I would only need 4 more classes on top of the 2 I'm taking next semester plus the additional co-req's and its a 2 year accelerated BSN so I'd get done in almost the same amount of time and with a BSN. Sorry, I know I'm rambling and probably not making much sense but I'm frustrated bc my plan has now been changed and I have to decide what direction I need to go in and not waste time taking classes that will not be transferred.

I know how you feel when things change. For years, I had planned on going to my CC to get my ADN and then bridge to my BSN. With half a semester to go before I could put my name on the wait list they closed the list and changed the admission process, and they would not accept any new applications for at least two years. I found an accelerated BSN program that I was interested in and have spend the last 2 semesters taking the required courses. I am very happy to be going for my BSN, and I will have finished my degree around the same time I could have applied to the CC.
I think it depends on what you personally want to do. Take a little time to let the shock wear off of the current situation, and hopefully the right path for you will become clear. Good luck!

My school changes things up every now and then too. I took Dosage and Calculations because it was a requirement the first year I applied, I got on the alternate list and didn't get in that year, and by the next year that was no longer a required course, same with Medical Terminology. So I wasted the money (out of pocket) and the time on both of those, although they will still serve me well as a nursing student. I would go BSN if I were you, I wish that were feasible for me. But ADN will suffice first, then BSN for me. Good luck whatever you decide!
Thanks! I just bought my dosage book off amazon bc I would've had to take that next week too but now I don't have to take it until next year apparently if I decide to stick it out. lol I'm looking around now trying to weigh my options. Thanks guys:)

Keep your options open. Apply to more schools. The BSN route is not a bad way to go.

I am in the same boat as you! I just made this post over here about the same thing. I just happened to come across your thread when I was searching. I posted this the other day: https://allnurses.com/online-nursing-schools/very-annoyed-saint-845784.html

The best thing you can do is make the best out of having to take these next few classes and getting your gpa higher (don't know what it is now). Also, check with the school, they may allow you to still submit your application for the next starting semester with your intent on taking the required courses before their nursing program starts.

I know how you feel, when I received my first Associates of Science Degree, they changed the requirement from College Math to College Algebra my last semester. Also, I think a lot of classes are designed to separate you from your money as they seem to have no value in the real world. However, we are at the College's mercy, so we just have to put on our game face and do it. Doesn't mean we have to like :-)

Call the school and make sure the changes apply to you. The school I am applying to just changed their pre-reqs, but they don't apply to me because of when I started.
Hope everything works out!!
Talk to the school advisors, they may have exceptions for students that are just about to get accepted into the college, and that planned to get based on earlier requirements.
They did this in my school. But I would not bank 100% on it, apply to other schools just in case.
I actually just went and talked to a nursing advisor on Friday just to see if I could retest out of Int. Algebra and the first advisor I talked to (non-nursing advisor) told me u would have to take the additional 6 classes, then I talked to the nursing advisor and she told be I would only have to take the Int. Algebra and the dosage test and I could take the rest after I put in my application! How can these people not be on the same page! Had I not went and talked to the advisor I would be wasting taking classes I didn't need to actually put in my app.
