Direct Entry MSN 2020 at Columbia University

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!

Good Luck!

Really? We need to accept and put our deposit down before they tell us about financial aid??

lol i thought about the same thing. i doubt it though. they told me, last week, that they’ll send the email within the next two weeks. also, the deadline to accept is march 2.

Does anyone know how breaks work in the MDE program? I know classes start June 1st but any idea when the summer semester ends?

I never thought of registering an emotional support animal, I'll look into it!

If you do, make sure you get a letter from a real mental health professional, not just a “certification” from an online company because those aren’t usually legally accepted.
Even if you do off-campus housing, it can be good to have a letter (if you do need the emotional support, of course) because many apartments say “no pets,” but they legally have to allow ESAs.
Good luck!

Columbia waiting for students to commit with the deposit before releasing financial aids package uh....lol

Also, I’m hoping not having to edge my bet and put down deposit at another school

I'm really worried about this! Yale asked for an answer by Feb 14 and if the Columbia Fin aid package doesn't arrive by then I might have to deposit with Yale. Does anybody have experience asking for an extension to deposit with a school?

maybe you can delay by saying you don't have the money for the deposit?

I have a good feeling we will be hearing back from Columbia sometime next week prior to Yale deadline about our financial aid package. Then again, I’m only going by my gut feeling and not fact....lol

Is there anyone else debating about whether or not they’d be bringing their car? Lol I know I’m going to be use public transportation most of the time but I’d like to have it for getaways where I’m visiting friends and family in nearby states

If youre thinking about bringing your car, Washington Heights doesn't really have the best reputation as far as neighborhoods go in NYC. NYC street parking can also be kind of a pain, so make sure you keep a couple tickets in the budget while attending!

Hoping to hear back about waitlist sometime soon! The only info I got from Columbia was that waitlisted applicants are not ranked.

I was thinking that a car would be such a hassle, lol I really would miss my car but I could just rent something for weekend getaways. I live in Texas where I drive everywhere but I'm telling myself I could manage without a full-time car.

I’ve been living in NY for almost 2 years now and commute from Brooklyn to Columbia for work without issue. Between insurance and car payments if you’re still paying on it, you’re probably better off just renting a car for the weekend.

Just my personal opinion though, some people manage fine with cars in the city, I just feel it’s kind of a hassle
